Touhou ? not Zun ?

Isnt Touhou owned by Zun ? How is the game made not with Zen? I'm just curious. <3 Touhou but I've only played the fighting games (not into space shooters) and read some of the mangas. So this does kinda look interesting

Fangames, in a nutshell. ZUN lends out the license to many people so they can make what ever they want with it, I'm sure someone will give you a better explanation.

It is a bit weird but, I think this game is Zun Approved. Would have to ask one of the devs though, maybe they'll see this thread.

ZUN has been pretty cool about others making derivative works based on Touhou. It's why the fan and doujin community for it is so large, it's why there are multiple conventions dedicated solely to Touhou (and even just specific characters), it's why the Touhou lossless music collection torrent is nearing 2 terabytes. Outside of a few rules and guidelines, people are more or less free to do what they want with Touhou.

In japan, derivative works are accepted at large. Its an entire community by itself, and the creator does indeed have the right to veto things. However, touhou's fan community has put out games, music, and manga that rival and even surpass the main games in some regards.

Its not like any of it is canon, but japan understands that imitation is one of the more sincere forms of flattery, and aren't harsh on it as a result.
