OpenXCOM vs XCOMUtil
What are the differences? Thanks.

XCOMUtil is a patcher to fix some problems but it can only go as far as the programmers figure out how to patch the binary.

OpenXCOM is a complete open source re-programming of the game that re-uses the original assets and fixes a LOT of gameplay, performance and UI problems. http://ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Differences_to_X-COM_%28OpenXcom%29. I recommend using it.

Thank you Bacon. I will do that now.

There is a difference however in the enemy AI. The aliens are more cunning (or less stupid) in OpenXCOM. This is a good thing for experienced players that know how to exploit the original AI, but I'm not sure how it would affect inexperienced players.

Plus you can play openxcom with the steam overlay. Just unzip it into the xcom folder and rename openxcom.exe to dosbox.exe. and tada

Sorry for the necro thread. But I found this in a google search.

Xcom Util says it runs in dos and windows, but I can't get it to run in Boxer/DosBox. Is there a trick to it?
