How do I win UFO Defense?

I have been fighting through months now and I was wondering how to get to the end of the tunnel. I want to move on through the series. Can anybody help define the steps it takes to win this game?

research how to get to the final mission. you have to capture and research an alien commander for that i believe.

You're going to need to research two paths in the tech tree. One for the Avenger (if you haven't) and one for Cydonia (the mission)
The avengers path needs Alien Alloy, Elerium 115, UFO power source, UFO Navigation, UFO construction, New Figther Craft (firestorm), New Figther Transport (Lightning) and then the Ultimate Craft (Avenger).
If you have Power armor/Flying armor, you've researched most of this as is.

For the mission itself, you need Alien origins (which requires any live alien to be interrogated), then any live alien leader, to get The Martian Solution, then any commander to get Cydonia or Bust and then Cydonia (requires Avenger).
