Code Vein had Io and didn't have even the tiniest hint of what you are concerned about. In fact, the only game I can really think of off the top of my head from them that fits your criteria at all is Tales of Zesteria, but they were just good friends and it actually leaned more towards a female character but she was under utilized which created a massive outrage for the fan base as she just kinda got dropped off the earth and the story moved away from any real character development at that point for nearly everyone.

Nope. I highly doubt there will be any romance. It's pretty much focused on combat, character development and utilizing abilities over building relationships. Though there probably will be some flirtations somewhere because... anime

Well look at it like this it's from Bandai Namco and it's a JRPG excluding Dragon Quest I honestly don't think many JRPG from them or JRPG generally recently have had any actual romance in them. So chances are there's probably not going to be any Romance.

I really thought for sure that there wouldn't be but the new gameplay has me believing it MIGHT.

The part where they show the bonding session is a "You & Me together forever only" moment. Makes me wonder if romance is key for the ultimate join for powers.

well designer slept with another character VA so he kinda remade story in a way to make a room for his lover.

Io wasn't a romamcable character, she was just a veasel who viewerd herself as a doll - something that was created for a purpose.

Now, you could choose to save or not save Io, she was the sexiest character and probably the most focused on besides the queen and Jack but that's about it.

Saying Code Vein had romance is like saying Life Is Strange had romance, you could build relationships and kiss someone in Life Is Strange, save their life but that's not romance...
