The part where they show the bonding session is a "You & Me together forever only" moment. Makes me wonder if romance is key for the ultimate join for powers.
Io wasn't a romamcable character, she was just a veasel who viewerd herself as a doll - something that was created for a purpose.
Now, you could choose to save or not save Io, she was the sexiest character and probably the most focused on besides the queen and Jack but that's about it.
Saying Code Vein had romance is like saying Life Is Strange had romance, you could build relationships and kiss someone in Life Is Strange, save their life but that's not romance...
