Will I enjoy this game if I hate CV?
Not sure if same developers made both games but both games were from Bandai studio. I hated Code Vein because:

-Story were terrible and made no sense. Watching memories in slow walk were a pain.
-Combat animation was not precise/accurate, games has so many gift require grinding but only few of them actually useful
-Enemies were copy/paste just re-skin
-Map design either too plain and boring, or too narrow with too many ambush spot, or just overly complicated like Cathedral

Does this game has any of the flaw I listed above?

There's a lot of conversations in the form of "bond episodes" where you improve your friendship with your teammates. All of these conversations and cutscenes can be skipped if you desire.

- Combat is very good. Some hitboxes on the bigger monsters can be tough to avoid, but dodging the attack leaves you immune to rest of the animation so it's a bit more forgiving. There's basically no grind in this game to worry about. All abilities have usefulness in combat.

- There are some copy-paste enemies in this game. The beastiary is somewhat limited in this title.

- Maps are very linear with small branches off to the side holding non-essential items. There are no ambushes.

I played through a fair amount of Code Vein, but it never quite gripped me. I think the souls-borne genre just isn't a good fit for me. Scarlet Nexus, however, with its faster and more flexible combat, and characters with a bit more emotion and depth, feels like a lot more fun. I've played through it with both characters and had fun the whole time through.

possibly. its not as optimized as CV.
but the combat is NOT dark souls like. there's no bonfires. no souls ot collect. it's just an action rpg, think astral chain and tag team battle systems, and youre halfway there

well if u hate CV u might not like this either the story isnt on par and the combat is deceptively uncreative it looks like you have depth with the skill tree but you dont

the game is actually good but it has glaring story issues and does not make good use of having 2 character routes

it is on sale now tho so i do recommend picking it up it is still a good game

same as code vein but with a more than decent combat system... and the story is well on the same level as nier automata. Overall i enjoyed the game, but i can't recommand it without saying that the game is repetitive

I really enjoyed Code Vein but maybe that's just me, the DLC for it was terrible but the main game was great. It pretty much convinced me to pick this one up despite it being different gameplay wise but like others have said if you really didn't enjoy CV you probably won't enjoy this

I've no idea why people keep comparing this to Code Vein, it's a completely different game made by an entirely different team. It's not even a souls-like. Is it just because both are published by Bandai Namco?

Having said that, Scarlet Nexus is just a generic action JRPG with lots of visual novel style cutscenes telling a bog standard shounen story where characters overcome their struggles by believing in their friends. The combat is flashy but quite shallow. The graphics and art style are really pretty though.

THIS ISNT A SOULS GAME OK.... ALSO DIFFERENT TEAMS (TALES of team compared to GE team OK)

I still don't get why people seem to think this game takes place in God Eater verse... when clearly psychics can't really exist in God Eater verse

nor is the moon a giant aragami paradise

You're right about the first part, wrong about the second. This IS made by the same developers as God Eater and Code Vein.

Also to answer the question of the thread: Code Vein and Scarlet Nexus are not even remotely similar in any way at all. The only thing they share is a developer.

No the latest shift title developers for GE was Code Vein, GE3 was marvelous understandably due to the development hell Code Vein was put through, not listed as tales of arise....

Hello? Its in their website as well -_-

SN was made by the Tales of Beseria team which is part of the Tales of Team (IIRC the same team that made Vesperia)

This game's more of a cross better Tales Of and Ninja Gaiden. Like Ninja Gaiden, you can only cancel recovery frames of your attack animations so you have to play this game more methodically and defensively compared to something like DMC. As for Tales, while you aren't swapping out between party members you are constantly shifting between the abilities they offer. Plus, the aesthetic is a lot like a sci-fi version of Tales Of Xillia and the item names are derived from the Tales names (ie you use Jellies to heal.)

So this game was made by a Tales Of team? That explains why Scarlet Nexus borrows some Tales Of tropes.

the only thing that GE3 lacked was a Sakura Tange character that goes UMU... then again GE3 had a burst art thats reminiscent to Saber's excalibur

I loved Code Vein and I found Scarlet Nexus extremely boring (I probably won't even finish it) so yeah, you will definitively like it.
