Starting Totem and Gamble Totem
I suggest that the starting totem lets you use it as many times as you want but it doubles the needed keys to work each time (or just increases it by 2 or something and the chance for a legendary is less). I currently have over 100 keys and would love to "risk it all" on a run by myself to really push it.

Or, make it cost more, but it is more like a shop. Like, you can buy 6 perks at the start, 2 blues, 2 purps, and 2 legendary. You could buy them all or just the ones you think are best. (this could also be used as a metric to see which perks are good/bad in the eyes of the community)

I do not know how this would work in multiplayer, maybe each person gets their own shop?

All I know, is that when I play multiplayers with my buds, we "key-connect" to get filled up on perks before the start.
explanation: You have 1 person host (best internet or lowest keys), then, after they invite their friends, the friends pop in, activate the totem, pick up the item, DROP the item, and then re-join the host. (you do not have to DC, just accept the invite again)
This lets you spend as many keys as you want but this feels too "cheesy" and can be annoying and time consuming since we all have like 200 keys normally. It would be easier to just "blow thy load" and get the run going.

I see key-connecting as more of an oversight than something thats encouraged (could be wrong, of course). I dont really care what people do in their own games, but allowing people to just spend a ton of their keys on a ton of items can really take the challenge out of even the higher difficulties. And with the game I think currently balanced around the idea that you could have a strong item early on but otherwise are starting from base would probably have to change if everyone is coming in with 6+ items.
I would rather have something else to spend them on. even if its just cosmetic. I dont think Noisestorm should go the route of Lunar Coins in RoR2

I personally just relog to lobby until I get a decent starting perk or mod. 3 keys per try but I try to keep over 200 keys
