Dual Shotguns feel underpowered
I love the Dual Shotguns, but they just feel... weak. Even the Flamethrower feels stronger than it, and it's a DOT weapon! I don't know why a stream of flame is stronger than two shotguns, but it'd be nice if they got a firerate + mag balence change or just a simple increase in damage.

I think there should be changes to how certain perks works altogether with certain weapons, otherwise we end up with 10 runs where you get things that are 99,9% useless with them.

I actually found dual shotguns to be quite good in the past, they have a decent proc chance - if you can get faster reload (which I think is no longer around? I've only seen Juiced and Artifact that is not common lately) it's much better. But without that, they are indeed horrible. So what if you hit for 5x damage if you could do far better with 30% faster shooting and reload while dealing only 2x damage? And the range. Already 2 things to worry about with, I repeat myself a lot with this, damage stopping mattering so much very quickly unless you get the best ones.

Honestly, I think shop could use some basic stat increase options aside from perks which should be stronger by default as they're random, with increasing cost. But something like 5% increased reload speed for 50 crystals, then 100, 200, 400, 800 - or movement speed would be nice.

Simple weapon stats like that - and I mean per run, not as meta progression which would be rendered meaningless anyway on higher difficulty because it'd be balanced around everything maxed out anyway. It's just, sometimes I'd rather spend 1000 crystals on even 20% increased reload speed than anything else. And that's just reload speed.

auto shotgun is still significantly better, but nothing beats dual shotgun in number of projectiles at once. Meaning no other weapon (auto shotgun is a contender though) benefits as much from "on hit" effects.

I tend to sit down to play crab champions with "for fun" runs on true nightmare difficulty. I use the totem first, then choose my weapon based on what I get.

Triple/arc/X/square shot? Arcane wand or rocket launcher
damage/homing shot? sniper
etc.

but Link/drill(meh)/bubble/spark shot? That's auto or dual shotgun every time. So what if bubble shot only has a 10% proc rate....I'm hitting with like 16 projectiles at once.

Reload is indeed less common, but you can still search for it with speed chests (both Juiced and Ring of Reloading are speed chest options). Efficiency or All You Can Eat are also strong options. Efficiency is usually a crappy pick for most weapons, but again, it functions PER projectile, so with 2 efficiency, and reasonably good accuracy, you've got effectively unlimited ammo and reload doesn't matter. Other unusual picks that are strong for dual shotguns include fast shot (faster bullet speed means significantly increased range) and grip tape (reducing spread groups your shots together. With 4 of these (and no blind fire), your shots are laser accurate...every pellet)

That's actually good advice, thanks. Probably why I liked dual shotguns, I just became biased against any proc perks because they usually don't do much without upgrading them, which doesn't happen often for me.

many of them have really good scaling - like insanely good.

they do indeed, but the scaling is 0 if they refuse to drop in chests, which is sadly quite often. If you can get an upgrade chest or two in the first 3-4 chests, you're golden...otherwise it's a gigantic gamble that you'll ever actually upgrade that bubble/spark/thorn/whatever shot before you get past island 20, at which point the scaling doesn't feel so insane anymore.
