Is "Mourning and Havoc" optional?
The area is just absolutely dreadful. The obnoxiously short timing of the electrical stage hazards, the needlessly beefy and pointlessly powerful enemies, it just is more tedious work than it's worth it.
Can i skip this reagion without missing anything important?

You don't have to go there unless you're trying for the DLC ending, but I'm guessing it's probably too late for that anyway. Aside from that, you won't be missing much.

I won't defend the area, for, as much as I love the game, it is rather frustrating and bland... But I think the boss at the end is rather fun, so it might be worth it.

On the other hand, you can sequence break to get to the boss without having to navigate the entire area. If you attempt to reach Mourning and Havoc from Jondo, by way of Echoes of Salt, you will eventually reach the chest that contains the Mirabrás of the Return to Port prayer.

By using the Tirana of the Celestial Bastion prayer, you can make the ladder above descend, and skip straight to the end of Mourning and Havoc.

And yes, you can do this at the very start of the game, you only need the relic for the blood platforms, and enough fervour to cast the Tirana of the Celestial Bastion prayer.
