Like most people, trying this on their first attempt, i believe you missed the very first part like described in this simple guide.
Aslo, if you make a new attempt i recommend not to try it first with an NG+, delete the whole save game or create a complete new one:
because, everything is harder and especially Crisanta on any NG+.
Im just saving you some tears and frustrations.

This is a bit overblown. The new content is not that much harder than most of NG+ content. If you can get used to the rest of the content on NG+, then you can handle the Eventide stuff too. In fact there's some tricks with the new DLC rosaries to become pretty immune to most damage if you take advantage of it.
And I feel the new Crisanta fight gets too much hype...not saying it's easy, but I spent just as much time on Sierpes and Isidora and Crisanta's new phase is mostly just a beefed up version of her normal fight. Learn to block and you can handle everything she tosses at you.
Im just saving you some tears and frustrations.
This is Blasphemous. You don't run from pain and penance.
if you defeated her without the heart.... you're screwed. just start a new game.
and don't listen to DANCER. you should do NG+ its much more fun this way.
