Soundtrack should have been upbeat Castlevania guitars.
Played for 3 hours yesterday, very cool game, but it's too overly mopey. I know that seems to be the point, but I think the contrast in visual and narrative mopiness style with a killer more active or rocking soundtrack would really elevate Blasphemous from a cool curiosity to an instant classic.

The game: *sombre, bleak & sorrowful existence of endless suffering under cruel gods who demand impossible purity from a reality they designed & doomed to be flawed. You play as a servant of piety with tireless zeal to rid the world of corrupt impurity in the highest orders. Inspirations draw heavily from Spanish Catholicism, the Inquisition, & other Spanish folklore."

This dude: "Man, that's metal. It needs some guitars." It has guitars. You want them more upbeat? Please show us an upbeat spot in the game they could go.

Why should the music contrast with the game's theme? The music should reinforce the theme.

Well, the OST already contains Funeral Doom and Martial Industrial influences, and things that you offering would make music generic as ♥♥♥♥.
the soundtrack, just like the rest of the game, is about feeling and atmosphere. it's not just an upbeat song to listen to, it's to tell a story, convey a certain feeling, and it delivers it flawlessly

the songs of the Holy Line and Wasteland of Burred Churches are too perfect to describe, i felt a real sense of existential dread while exploring those bleak, desolate dying areas that are populated by the corrupt humanity.

the song of Mercy Dreams perfectly convets a feeling of being in a church and barging through it in the middle of a procession.

there are upbeat songs during certain boss fights and they are fanatstic too

I'm not talking about screaming death metal, just a little more energy to play contrast to the grim and depressing theme.

You're missing out. Can confirm... Mongolian Metal works great with Blasphemous.

Also Tengger Cavalry for boss fights.

Wow, it really does need that! Would be so much better than generic depressing "fitting" music.
it dosnt need electric guitar, it has something better, hurdy gurdy

all the boss tracks had really nice gurdy

with a killer more active or rocking soundtrack

What is this? 1995?

I'd absolutely never change the soundtrack and I love how relaxing some of the music can be. Gives a lot of the game a unique feel. And I don't see what's grim about the music since many of those guitar tracks are pretty catchy.

Can confirm... Mongolian Metal works great with Blasphemous.

That HU song on the video isn't even metal. That's country or folk music. How the heck is this labeled as metal? Is it so rare to have guitars in songs these days that everything with them is rock or metal?

Now, fighting Ten Piedad with this playing? Hmmm....

Agreed. Those were my favorite tracks.

Complaining about the Blasphemous soundtrack is like complaining about the nudity at a nude beach. Get out of here!:steamsalty:
