How to increase Mea Culpa level?

I'm still on level 1 after buyed all upgrades.
And also the sword and the rosary i've stuck on the same slot: 1 for the sword and 2 for the rosary.

Actually i've explored untill the snow zone, the whole area i think except some invisible wall.

If i corretly read game advices - to upgrade mea culpa your need find another uprade altars in game world.
Each altar - MC upgrade

For slots ypu need find items.

Mmmh i'm still stuck with rosary at 2 slot. I've 2 items on my inventory ( kind of Red circle) that seems related to the rosary but i don't understand how to combine them.
Are they working for the rosary?

There's a NPC at some point in the game that allows you to increase the rosary slots by using the red items. You just need to find it somewhere on the map.
