How difficult is this game?
I received it in this month's Humble Bundle. I am interested in trying it out. I'm not great at the uberhard platformer games.

Probably hard enough that most normal level gamers wont even be able to attempt it. From what Im reading , if you arent uberskilled dont even bother.

I really have no idea what this annoying movement is in the video game industry to make everyone play on the same difficulty.

Probably to artificially lengthen the time it takes to play the game to the end.

I just got the game myself so I'm not too far in, but it's not that bad. The platforming so far has been pretty easy, especially since your character doesn't get knocked back when you get hit in the air. You still take damage, but you armor through it.

The real difficulty has been in the combat. Individual enemies all have fairly simple patterns. The game seems to throw new enemies at you one at a time so you can learn how to actually fight them, but then it'll throw you against combinations of enemies or put you up against them in less than ideal conditions, that's where the game's challenge is.

It's not that hard, especially with the upgrades you get along the way, so don't worry. Towards the endgame it gets harder and there are some frustrating platform sections, but nothing too overwhelming. I'm not good with hard games as well and I had almost no problem up to half the game; I actually wish the combat was a bit harder. For reference, it's far easier than Hollow Knight, about the same as Castlevania. The platforming is pretty reminiscent of old console games, so there are some hard parts.

You can also choose to have assistance at the first three (real) bosses, which makes them a breeze.

Just don't go up as the first thing you do in the game, as that area is a bit too hard to begin with. If you see snow, turn back. Explore the lower regions to get used to the game before going up the mountain.

Is this really that hard? I only have 200 hours in DS3 and have all achivement in Sekiro is that enough?

Yeah it's a mystery, i don't know if it's a generation thing where all the young people only like something it's only playable the way they like it. I keep saying in all these clones at least make the death penalties optional or something. Every action rpg is now ruined by inspiration from FromSoftware...i mean take the good gameplay and take some initiatives so that more players actually play the game. Feels like all single player action rpgs (which are my favorite type) are now designed to stroke the ego of a portion of players instead of being designed to be actually good games people will enjoy.

I mean i still finish them all but this copying of dark souls has to stop. STOP LISTENING TO LOUD PLAYERS, give people options...if those people don't like others enjoying the game their way there are medical professionals that can help with weird complexes. It's like the industry is going backwards. Everytime i hear souls like fanboys and it's watching a Space Force rally....

Same way call of duty ruined shooters and turned them all into boring military crap for about 10 years, it's just ridiculous.

I totally agree with this. Provide more options so the game has wider audiences. Why alienate those players that don't like extremely difficult games?

I like the artwork and the theme of Blasphemous, but I now totally avoid playing punishing games that cater to masochists who has a lot of time on their hands.

The thing about the difficulty in the Dark Souls series is that its only really there if you want it to be. If I'm having a hard time, I can either go grind out levels to get a bit of an advantage or request the help of someone else.

I feel like its short sighted and perhaps a bit out of touch with what made the Souls series so successful to just simply make a game difficult just to tap into that somewhat small consumer base.

Nah this isn't true - it isn't that hard. Try it out.

lol so many people thinking Blasphemous is as hard or punishing as Dark Souls.

This game is nothing like DS, people. Just play it.

I just started playing it. It doesn't seem overly challenging but no cake walk either. If you played and enjoyed Salt and Sanctuary or Hollow Knight you'll feel right at home here, as I do. It's easier to get into than Hollow Knight too imo, which took a good few hours before i really started to enjoy it.

its a bit challanging at times but not very difficult, most of the deaths come from getting impatient running back and forth across the map and theres instant death traps everywhere. and i mean everywhere.. worth playing for the nice pixels

I've played many "hardcore" platformers and have to say that I find Blasphemous to be quite easy in comparison to most of them. I do not know if you have played games like; Oniken or Odallus before but even compared to those Blasphemous is MUCH easier. I have cleared several bosses so far and have not died to them even once. The few deaths I had so far were just results of impatience and blindly jumping down into pits and spikes.

I never played Cuphead or Hollow Knight, just assumed they would be too hard. Have played GBA Castlevania Aria of Sorrow. And Owlboy
