How does it compare to death's gambit?
I ask as someone who felt very let down by the level design of deaths Gambit. Its levels just felt too small with very little to see or do in them beyond get to the next boss and kill it. The bosses themselves are great but I just couldn't get over how underwhelming the level design felt. I expect a metroidvania to have big sprawling levels with lots to see and find in them. Can I expect that with blasphemous?

Haven't played Death's Gambit. But Blasphemous has really good level design with huge interconnected and non linear levels featuring lots of hidden paths and secrets to find

It reminds me a lot of Death's Gambit, but I can assure you that the level design is way better in Blasphemous, but dont expect your character to fly or move very fast.

Much more "open" compared to Death's Gambit. It's much more of a metroidvania

Significantly better.

Far better.

Eh, it's better in some ways, but not all. It's very sluggish at times and while the platforming in Death's Gambit was pretty poor, it's only marginally better here. Your character has a tendency to "skate" as though everything is slick if you barely move in a direction and there's no "drop down" button when hanging off of a ledge. This is problematic with certain spike areas where you want to just drop onto a moving platform. No, the developer makes you take a leap of faith and jump wildly UP instead of dropping down, or you magnetically latch back on to a ledge you are not trying to grab.

The game has nice animations, but to its detriment at times. It just becomes way too tedious with some enemies, especially when you're backtracking. If anything, it's closer to Slain!: Back From Hell, but better.

There are also quite a lot of bugs right now too. The game becomes unresponsive over many things.

Actually if you are very careful not to push the stick in any direction but down, you can drop off the ledge. It's just VERY sensitive. Also you can't drop off of ladders which is SO annoying.

Much better. I bailed on death's gambit after about an hour or two. This one hooked me. I'm already up too late playing it.

Having now played through Blasphemous, yeah, I enjoyed this more than Death's Gambit. :)
