Tbh, I´ve hoped that it would open up a new location I haven´t seen yet. I´m currently on my thir playthrough and still under the impression I´m missing something.
But you'll know to hold onto that one key until the time comes to use it.
Why would you actually use that key, though? It doesn't even open the door it fits in, and using it just wastes time in a scenario where you really, really don't want to do that.
Personally I keep all keys, just because I hope that one of them might lead to something interesting eventually. But at this point I would be surprised if that actually happened. I have found keys that fit into locked doors, but none of them actually opened anything.
