Armies - Quality or Quantity
I tend to have less soldiers but they’re well equipped. Just curious as to what others do.

Same here.
Replacing dead and getting them equipped is too much of a hassle. So for me it's always better to have less troops, but experienced and well-equipped, so 95% of engagements will be a full victory without any KIA on our side, and with an army immediately ready for next battle.

Haven't played much yet, but so far I've been running solo since I don't like managing stuff. Been hiding up on high vantage points and sniping, resupplying if necessary. Never have to worry about equipping troops or replacing dead ones. XD

Quality far cheaper, and easier to replace. Quantity is a logistics nightmare of equipment and weapons.

I like quantity! The massive meat shield serves to protect the human. Large armies are slower, but considering how easy it is to outfox the game, I feel it's a fair trade.

I equip my troops with the basics or better still with whatever I can scrounge. Of course buying weapons and gear is expensive, so I don't bother with that if I can help it. And if they, die they are quickly replaced by others just like them. I don't bother playing with dolls, autoequip and auto form up is good enough for my crew. If someone goes into battle without a weapon, well, the Caligula in me is pleased. Maybe I was on the Eastern Front in a previous life.

If things go horribly bad, there's always the dev console to provide the last will and testament of that rich uncle I never knew I had.

it depends if u use auto-battle. in auto-battle i dont care how terrible/bad my "soldiers" are.

i wouldnt use autobattle when my chance is less than 80% cause the casualties are too high.

Both for me. I tend to have 2-3 well- equipped squads(spetsnaz & pozna snipers/commando's mixed with armored marauders) and up to 5 lesser squads(trained infantry, militia riflemen & whatever rabble i tend to recruit to replenish losses like militia SMG's).

The lesser squads aren't cannon fodder though, and i give each member atleast 2 medkits to improve their survivability. The real DPS comes from the "veteran" squads.

I like balancing my troops, I don't want to bring too much because my strategic map speed slows down, and I don't want to bring less if I intend to battle elite troops.

I have 2 sniper teams, 2 assault team, 2 support team and 2 back up teams. 5 man squad each. But I also have reserves they can be either militia or captured soldiers who I recruited into my army. So overall my army is around 40-60 units. The only times I exceed that number is when I'm training garrison troops or giving them better equipment.

My prefered types are trained up 'riflemen' with M-14's for ranged slow them down use, Federal Infantry for volume of fire needs, Female militia for 'Military Police' duties in occupied cities, till I get the main force back, they delay long enough and are cheap to replace. Found no difference using expansive 'speciality' troops, as if trained up properly even 'female militia' the cheapest unit can become a formidable force. Patience is the key, no time limit on game, why rush.

I usually keep a core of elite troops I use for field battles, but I always grab a horde of militia for attacking settlements, as I always seem to take casualties attacking them, so they may as well be expendable casualties.

Yeah, the only advantage these special troops have are; speed and some have better sights and some have better health than others. It's like these special troops are designed for fast engagement, meat grinder stuff, although some are good but have expensive salary, I rather stick to the militias or those captured bandits.

My sniper teams are usually just militia marksmen, sometimes I get lucky and capture those trained marksman or some pozna snipers. Right now I'm trying to get more Federal Infantry, they have good health and if you give them armor and some medkits they're deadly I also have captured FCA units, sometimes they volunteer to join me.

Usually in combat I have my support/rifleman team to get the attention of the enemy, while the sniper team hangs behind the rifleman team, picking off targets making sure they're not in the line of fire of the enemy, and the 2 sometimes 4 assault team going fast or sneaking on the enemy flanks. Sometimes I have to bring in more troops especially if I'm against high level and high health enemies or outnumbered, I had to make sure to split em up.

Enemy AI usually just attack in numbers, I haven't seen them try to flank me, maybe it hasn't been added in the game yet.

Oh yeah, female militia are awesome, they're the bulk of my garrison, although I had to arm them myself which is alright since I have a lot of M-14's in my inventory.

I agree, patience is the key, but if you have Shock-troopers or any unit with high Health and can wear the heaviest armor, sure rush but they're not invincible.

Lack of Stuff Nov 18, 2019 @ 1:23pm
Quality over quantity. The speed penalty for big armies just sucks and money becomes a total non-issue around mid-game so there's no reason not to go with high tier troops with the best equipment. With 1.1 we can now just straight up buy Black armor, spetz helmets, Groza, Aug, SR100 etc so losing that equipment doesn't sting like it used to when you had to grind mission rewards to get them.

Since most troops will get to or close to 100 skill with a weapon type the important stats are sight range and speed.

Quality. Few good men lever many crap men make the difference. Of course early game you don’t really have a choice you take what you can get. but I’ll say this I still have a villager girl on my squad the only one that did not get killed she’s upgraded and armed and she is doing pretty good

Quality for my own soldiers, quantity for my other leaders
