I can't play this game because of crashing UnityPlayer.dll.
Could you tell me what to do for this problem?

Do you have Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace installed? Try uninstalling them if you do. I had the same issue and it was affecting all games that used the UnityPlayer.dll.

This works. I have been trying to find a fix for this issue for days and you just saved me.
THANK YOU!

This worked for me. That's hilarious that it worked, though.

I don't often reply to posts on the Steam Community. But this helped me too... updated the Citrix Receiver to Workspace, and issues with some games followed. Thanks!

I've been playing all my Steam games for 8 years or so with no issues (other than the typical Firewall, Permissions, UAC, etc.) I have over 300 games and can play them all... until last week. I've had Citrix installed on my PC for 4 years now and never had an issue.

Last week ALL my Unity games stopped working. Could not figure it out, could not find a thread that figured it out until this one. Citrix updated 2 weeks ago...

My problem... I have to have Citrix installed for work as I am a telecommuter. Based on this revelation above rather than uninstall, I've tried to stop the services, no go. Guess I'm boned. LOL

Hahah yea, uninstalling Citrix Receiver did the trick! You're awesome!
How the hell did you find out? I didn't see anything useful in the crash logs

Escape from Tarkov crashed everytime on startup and I was getting nuts looking for a solution... It was Citrix Workspace, I uninstalled it and the game opens normally.

Thank you very much sir.

This also helped my figure out a startup crash problem with Rust. Originally I was getting a generic Windows Application Event Log error (Event ID 1000) for "bad_module_info" when launching Rust and experiencing this crashing problem. Upon launching RustClient.exe from the games installation folder it generated a more detailed application error (Event ID 1000 for "Faulting module name: UnityPlayer.dll".) which led me to this problem and this post after some google searching. Apparently, the UnityPlayer.dll error is caused by the Citrix Workspace application I use for occasional telecommuting for my job. After uninstalling Citrix, Rust now launches without issues.

I think they might be working on this?? https://forum.unity.com/threads/unity-2018-2-7f1-windows-standalone-crash-on-first-run-unityplayer-dll-caused-an-access-violation.556585/

Woohoo! The unity forum post also mentions that using the UWP version of Citrix Workspace App does not cause a problem with this version of the unity DLL. Subsequently, Unity released a fix for this, but your game has to be using that version of unity in order for it to work. Finally, the post also mentions this commandline install string for CWA that just doesn't put the casting stuff down.

CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe ADDLOCAL=ReceiverInside,ICA_Client,AM,SELFSERVICE,DesktopViewer,Flash,Vd3d,WebHelper,BrowserEngine

+1 regarding citrix workspace. For me, couldn't run Dawn of Man or Cities: Skylines .. uninstalled citrix and works like a charm. Now, can we get these two apps to play nice in the sandbox? Citrix is essential for work for me :)

Glad you got it working, but I don't think it will last. Don't be surprised if it breaks again after updates.
