For some reason after the butcher butchers the cow the hide just stays at the butcher shop? Should the leather worker come pick it up? I am unable to store it anywhere as well.

Do you have salt in your slaughterhouse?
The hide needs to be preserved with salt, before it's ready for the next step (process into leather at the tannery).

The butcher will also need salt to get the hides ready for use. This is a pretty new feature (if you've played in the past and came back to the game recently).

Salo altso needs salt to get ready now.

But yeah, if it says "(raw)", then it needs to be salted. After that, the tannery workers will come and bring it to the tannery for further processing.

perfect, thank you. I just bought some salt, so hopefully that will help. Odd you have to buy salt before you can make it. Need leather for draft

You can use oxen as draft animals, and they don't need any 'equipment', if I remember correctly. Just set two bulls to become oxen in the cowshed, then drag them to the saltworks.

I usually buy leather quite early anyway, long before I can make it, to make shoes. It's a good way to make money early; buy leather and sell shoes.

Oxen are fairly cheap so I usually just buy them.
