Was this inspired by "Insector X"?

Insector X was a shmup by Taito and Sages Creation for Arcades and The Sega Genesis.
The arcade game is a cutemup with you being a little winged man with guns shooting all sorts of bugs in backyard settings. The Genesis version took away the cuteness and made everything more mechanical and dark, and was one of my favorite Shmups on the system. This feels like a mix of the two games.
