Eh, I guess it was alright, but I find that it moreso apealed to me and my partner because we liked the setting and were on a Twin Peaks rewatch binge at the time. I think that's a bit random, and that if you're not those specific people, you might not find it really worth your time. It's not terrible, but it's one of those I wish Steam had a "eh" button in addition to the thumbs up and thumbs down.

Super short, super simplistic. It's okay, I suppose, but I would have been annoyed if I'd paid full price for it, even though that full price is $12 USD.

In conclusion:Diane SUCKS. What a gigantic jerk. Wow. I'm glad someone killed her.

Unrewarding

This is not a game.All you do it move around and click to read scripts. No strategy or game play involved. Pointless.

I was bouncing between if I'd recommend it or not.

Story wise it's a murder mystery game with a lot of heavy emotional themes. Story warning for whose who struggle with spousal abuse, sexual trauma and, suicide. You'll want to stay away from this game. Dialogue choices were kinda difficult to make at the start as I wasn't sure the type of detective I was suppose to be. Like why would I be so harsh towards other people just doing their job? This later made the story a little confusing when I wasn't aggressive towards characters but there seemed to be a lot of tension between them.

Game play - I thought this would be a point and click adventure but it was more of a visual novel which explains the walking simulator game tag in the store.

Controls - I used keyboard and mouse. WASD to move, shift to sprint and left mouse click for interactions. I should have looked at the controls menu at the start. As it wasn't really told to the players they had access to a journal/notes. I just saw "notes added" after talking to someone. When the game prompted me to check the journal for a date. I realised I never saw a journal the entire game. Similar games would usually have an overlay where there'd be button for you to click on instead. Maybe there was but I didn't see it because I was playing it windowed? There were also time when you went to interact with someone/something but the interaction ring vanished before you could select the action.

All the issues above is why I ultimately decided I couldn't recommend the game. I did enjoy playing it but it's not an easy story for everyone to get into. The interactions could be finicky at times and there were some visual bugs ever so often (towns people walking by getting stuck and/or walking in the road). Overall at times I found my mind wandering and unable to focus on the game. I would have to save and just close the game after a couple of hours because of it.

I would recommend this if you aren't affected by the heavy themes I mentioned earlier and if you enjoy Murder mystery type stories.

I thought that the game was going to give me more things to do and investigate, to walk around and explore the map, to have to ask everyone 'cause all of them know different stuff about the victims or something like that, but it ended up being "walk from this point to this one and read a bunch of dialogue". The story is short but it becomes pretty long with the backstory of Chris and Diane's relationship, and I didn't really care about how they met or when they started dating, I just wanted to solve the crime. The story got so stretched that the ending felt very fast and I didn't really understand it completly.
The game lags when taking screenshots, in the title screen; and it also doesn't let me close the notebook, I had to open and close the map everytime I had to see my objective because the notebook wouldn't close when pressing N. Also, it didn't let me change which keys to use on the keyboard, so my hand was in an uncomfortable position for the entire game.
In the controls menu it says to press space to skip dialogue, but it wasn't working so I tried several different keys until I found the one that worked and yet I couldn't skip it, so now, to get one of the achivements, I have to replay the entire game without being able to speed through almost 7 hours of mostly dialogue, that focuses mainly on the backstory of two characters I don't even care about. I was also kinda mad that it didn't let me save in the middle of a dialogue, so i had to save either before or after one, but sometimes the dialogue would be long that I would forget to do so. And not only that, but the game only has 4 save slots (+ an auto save one). Why? I'm the type of person that saves a lot in long games so that I can go back for achivements, but I had to think if it was necessary for me to save and risk deleting an old one that might've been useful for going back.

SPOILERS: What's the point of arresting Jack if he's just going to appear at the end and not even be mad at me? I don't get it

My non-recommendation is primarily because of how this game has been advertised and what I expected versus what this game truly is. If the marketing were more focused on being a narrative game instead of a murder mystery, it would be closer to the spirit of this game, though people like me who are looking for an investigative game may not pick it up even with the 50% discount (I paid 5.99 USD) I acquired it for.

I was expecting a more involved murder mystery game, but this has a more casual pace. This may be good for those who prefer to sit back and watch a relaxed investigation. However, this can be very slow for those who prefer moving on to the next clue or piece of information, especially since there are some story flashbacks that, though they add more colour and nuance, do not directly aid the current investigation.

I liked the visuals and the overall ambience of the game. One of my favourites is perhaps the tie animation. I also enjoyed the little details added to the game, such as the philosophical conversations with the tea connoisseur and helping a musician with lyrics. The chill music is very pleasant to listen to and appropriate for the scenery.

There are some bugs and optimisation issues which get in the way of this enjoyment, such as:

• The user interface is somewhat clunky.
  
• The music stops when looking at the Map and Tasks.
  
• The Notes would not go away when N is pressed unlike with the Map. They also tend to disappear and may or may not reappear when the game is reloaded.
  
• The unwieldy movement makes transiting quite a chore, confounded by the circuitous routes to get to places.

I recommend this to those looking for an emotionally heavy story with some mystery without the added responsibility of intensive clue gathering and puzzle-solving.

I do not recommend this to those looking for a more fast-paced, clue-based mystery game who are also achievement hunters. The achievements are not hard to get, though they are time-consuming due to the unskippable scenes.

My first playthrough of this game was 5 hours. I played again to get some achievements which took me up to 9 hours. I was admittedly not fully present for a few scenes since they are not skippable, and I have seen them already. It would be an improvement to add an option to skip scenes and dialogue after the first playthrough.

I encourage the developer to add a skip scenes/dialogue feature to this game or any future games (if not available already) and perhaps work on debugging and movement optimisation. The mood and scene setting is already there, and the marketing seems apt for the other game, Forgotten Fields (though I only played the demo).

This game seemed like it would be up my alley, but the writing is a huge downfall. With much of the narrative received third hand (someone tells you what someone else told them, but you are in control of the action, so who knows where this game of telephone leads), it's hard to tell where the bad writing ends an intentional ambiguity begins. It's clear at least two people with different English writing norms were working on this, but it gets cobbled together inconsistently, and there are some just plain hideous sentence structures to the point that I couldn't finish this game.
Maybe I could have powered through it, but there's such a disjointed investigation slapdash gluing together two very different personal dramas that end up suffering from tonal whiplash, because of the writing that is intended to link them. It feels like someone turned in a rough draft, not even a proper first draft, and it was turned into a game

Just dragging forward a story that you have no real direction over.

Men will literally accuse every member of a small town of murder instead of going to therapy.

You can't just throw a traumatic back story onto all of your characters and expect that to be a good reason for them acting ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Oh she's distant and moody? It's because she was repeatedly raped by her father. Oh, he's jumpy and emotional? It's because his father threatened him with a gun.

This wasn't an interesting murder mystery. It was a weird trauma-dump (that is never handled tactfully) every 30 minutes, and a love story about characters that were acting half of their age. Honestly, what 25-year-old man would climb a drain pipe to white-knight-rescue a girl (who is also 25) he went on two dates with from her bedroom window? 95% of the conflict of this game could have been avoided if a single person in this game acted their age, and just broke up when they were unhappy. "Well, that's the point!" Cool, but it sucks to watch and be apart of. It's not fun or interesting. It's not fun to watch two adults have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsense argument again and again and again. I get it, they're awful for each other.

Honestly, I got to the point where I was hoping they did kill each other, because of how much I hated both of their characters.

This is good if you like melodramatic visual novels that are detective themed. Get it on sale.
