How do you beat the boss rush easier?

was breezing through the game pretty fast until I hit the boss rush, wondering if I'm missing certain gear. right now I have red vulcan armour with 1999 life and the Vulcan Decimator with 274 damage, should I have better gear?

Have you tried the hardmode option to unlock medals and more gear? You can find it in the same room as the entrance to the giant multi-boss level. Basically you turn on hardmode by talking to a guy, then you can go back and beat previous bosses/content for quest rewards but the monsters are stronger. You really need this equipment to beat the game. (It's also a buff that goes away in 30 minutes, so you have to hurry)
