Version 1.2 released
To celebrate, the game is now on to V1.2 - this is a minor version update focused on gameplay/quality of life improvements and bug fixes. This build is significantly more polished!

Change log:
  • Added tile magnetisation to help lock cursor to correct tile (adjustable in Options)
  • Moved energy bar to the bottom where it's easier to see (reversible in Options)
  • Fixed 1-frame cursor lag, cursor is now rock solid
  • Fixed game over happening while mid-leap to escape
  • Disabled submerged totems so you can't leap to instant death
  • Fixed bug where particles would flow to/from the wrong target
  • Fixed incorrect timestep causing jaggy particle movement
  • Fine-tuned particle settings so they flow better
  • Minor polish on menu transitions
  • Optimised island generation to reduce CPU spikes
  • Lot of invisible groundwork for forthcoming features

I'm aware these fixes have been a long time coming and aim to update more frequently going forward.

Roadmap:
  • Time trial and challenge calendar
  • Tutorial rewrite
  • Controller support
  • Localisation
  • Known bug: trees floating in air (something to do with tiles the Watcher has interacted with in the past)
  • New gameplay features (save games now store version number so I can maintain backwards compatibility)

At Insomnia I received a lot of great suggestions from players which are significant blocks of work; time trial ghosts, multiplayer race mode, level editor... leave comments if you'd like to see any of those or something else!

I must admit, these time trial and race modes concern me a bit. I hope we still have very challenging levels to deal with. Koth turned into a very simplistic speed runner. No challenge what so ever. If we can have both.. all good. So far this is by far the best Sentinel "remake" I have come across. Absolute Gem.

Don't worry, the campaign will be unaffected, and what I've got so far for time trial is easy daily challenges, tougher weeklies, and absolutely brutal monthlies. I need to test it a bit more to make sure that the tough ones are completable. Will *probably* give you max stats for the hard challenges so you have something to work with...

I will be adding some time trial achievements too, so you don't have to play *every* day but 100% achievements will be something that only pretty committed players can get ;)

Thank you for the kind words!

I know Quantum Soup is a fan of Geoff Crammonds's "The Sentinel" so I thought I would pop an FYI about a VR version of the original called Augmentinel. This game in VR is brilliant. Its a pity the game concept itself is rather niche, let alone VR itself, but if you ever decide to add VR to Annwn, count me in.

Here's the link to Augmentinel VR. It is emulating the original code with some hooks to provide VR and other enhancements. Music is from the Amiga version which is brilliantly atmospheric. Runs on Vive/Rift via OpenVR. I play it on Vive Pro.
