Gecata 5 is a simple and user-friendly game recording software that offers good quality and small file sizes, with options for hardware acceleration, webcam and overlay, and export in MP4. However, it has limited settings and is expensive compared to other options, and has been known to crash at launch.

I used Action before but I think I'll give this programn a try

BUT IT CAN'T RECORD ANYTHING

I try many game (Doom, Boarderland 2, GTA IV) and everytime I press F10 to start record, the color font change for a second and then it gone. It shut itself down. And now I can't refund cause I tried to make it work for like 3 hours.

Even desktop record doesn't work at all. :(

This is actually a kind of desperate and mixed review. You know, I really loved Gecata 5 for a long time when using it, because it actually had no system impact at all for me, and I also really adored the easy editing functions to cut out unnecessary stuff as well as the low data cost. But meanwhile, oh boy. I mean, nearly every time a game now is programmed in Unreal Engine 4, runs in DX12 and you’re using 4K, or even worse, also got Raytracing, the game suddenly crashes upon start because of Gecata. Sometimes there’s a fickle workaround for a handful of games (by using Alt-Tab after start and using Desktop mode), but there are still quite some titles that crash nevertheless. And sorry, this is just absolutely intolerable.

Edit: I even bought Gecata 6 meanwhile, but guess what, the very same errors are still there. Honestly, this kind of leaves me very frustrated. I mean, other cheaper recording apps got no problem with this (e.g. Action!), so anyway, it leaves a shallow aftertaste in my mouth. My impression, the whole app meanwhile seems kind of abandoned, sorry if I may sound harsh. Long story short, this negative review is meant as a serious warning. Before buying any Gecata version, best think about what games you want to record, because a lot of new and future games with ultra settings will probably not work at all :(

Best video recorder ever, even better that fraps which would record on enormous file sizes AND put a yellow tint on video, haven't tried it on heavy games like LoL or ETS2 but will let you know what it does there.

Edit: Please fix it when recording (desktop or game mode) minecraft, after i click stop it crashed and i lost 1h40min vid :( please fix it immediately if possible.

2022 Edit: This is better than obs, where obs would lag on recording, this plowed through. Props to a great product.

Constant crushes. Unable to record games that have more than 15 years. Bugged in many ways. Don't waste your money.

Every time I want start recording, it closes down, only been able to record a few videos.

Good recording software, Mine does not lag at all. Even though I have potato PC.

Can it record? - Yes, but...

1. 20 euros for medium-bad quality is a scam.
2. "Meduim" quality is not an option.
3.I'd like to say that the software is decent, but it's not.

You can't buy me with a "Medium-Fast" "Faster" "Very fast" "Super fast" "Ultra Fast (low quality)" converting/ compressing/ processing speed, I don't want it, i'm not faling for it.
And yes, these are real options that you can choose and your quality won't get any better.

I appreciate the effort, but I'll stick to Nvidia's GeForce Experience.
The product is overpriced, 20 euros for somewhat "medium" quality IS a scam.
Could've put more time and effort into final product or further updates.


I highly recommend getting Action! instead.
