If it works out is another thing... :D
But with Red Solstice thy can certainly do nice things in the future once they have the manpower, money or motivation. They could easily turn it into a RTS, a third person shooter like Helldivers 2, or even a first person horror game.
Fingers crossed that their new games work out for them~
The name would be Red Solstice 3: Exodus.
You are in charge of leading the assault on Earth that will put an end to the Strol threat. You start on Mars. You already have a good economy, and a strong army. However, with each day that passes, the sandstorms grow a little stronger, and your colonies begin to break down. As long as it remains on Mars, it is only a matter of time before humanity becomes extinct.
However, you have also been put in charge of coordinating the evacuation effort. The challenges are immense: Mars is doomed, so make sure to exploit this planet as much as possible while you still can. Train soldiers for the upcoming invasion. Research new technologies. Build new colonies back on Earth. Save your people.
if you want to try NM and higher. you gonna be hearing and not Deaf. oh great. I'm Deaf and love this games but it is not for me. ouch. -1 player loss.
go play Helldivers 2. they accept handicap soldier to fight for Democracy! lol
Spoken like a person with skill issues..
im sorry buddy but if you are deaf I don't know what are you expecting from a multiplayer mode heavily relying on communication on higher difficulties.
also, you do understand there is a pretty long campaign even without the DLCs, right?
imo, rs1 and rs2 don't need audio at all, you get all the visual info you need and can convey or parse it with only a few typed words once you know the game
its coop mode is where it really shined.
A RS3 with a pure coop campaign and better designed class system would make the game a real gem in terms of coop. Add in some kind of Clan System.
HD2 is just a low iq shooter. its fun and does what it does well but sometimes you want a more involved coop game like PoE2 or D4 where theres complex class building with a space theme
There was no reason RS3 could not fill that need. RS2 just did not.
i could see myself and others enjoying it if it had been done properly. the first time me and my friends finished it we just sat around agreeing how bad it was lol. its one of those you do it just to finish it and then take a holy vow never to touch it ever again lol
the multi was enjoyable just because it felt like there was some degree of team work involved. even that was tainted once you were playing with veterans that were just roaming off solo'ng everything on max diff.
the sad part of RS2 was you could clearly see how close it was to being something good. All that DLC could have really added a richness to the story few games can achieve.
its prob for the best they gave up and stuck to things hopefully more in their depth of experience. As much as I want a RS3 i feel like they would only screw it up too.
Deep Rock Galactic, and later, HD2 pretty much have the market locked up for low iq fun shooters.
A deep space coop with complex class system is pretty much the empty part of the market currently. theres money to be made there but its pretty equally risky so. im not holding my breath.
i enjoy single player campaigns with a coop element but good story telling is hard to get right, RIP Star Wars Outlaws. Its a lot easier to ignore bad story telling in a full blown multi coop story line that gives you a wide variety of challenge.
Helldivers 1 didn't sell anywhere near what it thought it would.
Just because something is initially niche, doesn't mean it can't be fixed up towards mass appeal.
HD1 is the definition of niche, HD2 is mainstream. If you want to break the niche mold then you have to do some thing to break that mold, for HD2 it was making it a third person objective coop shooter with detailed graphics and animations. For FromSoft it was making the game less jank and more responsive alongside flashy visuals.
The genre RD2 is in is very niche, most people don't want to play these games because of various reasons. Hypothetically, if you gave the IP the Helldivers makeover Red Solstice would probably be more popular than Helldivers assuming the devs had proper leadership.
what broke the mold for HD2 was not changing it to 3d but acquisition by sony
when million dollar companies spend a lot to advertise and promote your game you get a lot more coverage
but that also means that you lose control of your ip completly , like all heldivers 2 shady controvercies , banning sales in some regions , region locks , shady updates , nerfs becouse its life service and you cant have too much fun and many more
it pains me as i consider RS2 better gameplay wise , helldivers 2 gets stale so quick and all microtransactions just make me not want to play it as there is so much pay to win in it
