We need a new way to level bots!

I play this game on and off. A bunch when it first came out then a mission here and there when I get bored. I think I would be more interested in playing the game if joining other peoples games would let me level up my bots some how.

Right now unless i'm hosting the game I don't even want to play or join with other players. Why would I join someones game when thats a huge waste of xp for my bots.

Well, the bots are only meant to fill up the slots if players are missing. Bringing in your own bots if you join someone would be hella neat, but there is a reason why you can only bring a max of 3... because they get so much stronger than normal players.

I don't think that changes to the bots are coming any time soon... it might be planned later down the line, but don't count on it. For now you gotta do it like everyone else, unfortunately: Host your own game and grab your favourites.

I wish could get a full tactical mode where we can command 7 bots... that would be paradise

My only issue with bots with my limited play time is that they don't level up while playing with others. I don't need to bring my bots in to other peoples games or anything. But can i at least earn xp for them? Game is supposed to be multiplayer but I don't want to join other people because i'm wasting xp

Honestly, I don't think that the way of gaining XP for them will ever get changed. "Participate to gain stuff" works for any other game, and I don't think it will be changed here. Also honestly, it is kinda surprising seeing someone care for their bots this much :D

Earning xp in skrimish and stuff to buy things on the tree I think the same idea can be used for bots. Let me earn xp by playing then I can spend it to level up my bots to get them new skills.

Sometimes I want to play solo with just some bots but other times I want to join other peoples matches but I always end up not doing that because i'm missing out on xp for my bot buddies.

I think they mentioned they plan to work on the bots in the future, but who knows how long this is actually going to take. While I do understand your point, you shouldn't really expect any changes to that any time soon.

They still have enough on their plate, and bots... well, they are not a exactly a major point they need to work on just yet.

well the bots are bound to the campaign you use em in. If you restart the campaign (or another one) you will get new bots too and will have to level them up again.
leveling them up via skirmish would mean you have to make bots crossover campaigns which kinda hurts the difficulty curve (as you could start a new campaign with maxed out bots who use suits you didn't even unlock yet in that campaign.

the progression of the bots is implemented in such a way that you have to get used to them, i.e. you can't play them successfully on very hard right away. then bots function differently from the player classes. from very hard onwards, they have to be optimally configured, otherwise they're worse than players.there are various weapons that are absolute crap on bots. e.g. SMG, GAR, Rhino, all crap on bots. plus bots cannot use secondary fire mode and mission upgardes.

bots are mostly configured in a wrong way if u are new playing with them, so if u simply level them up via joining others or level them up via skilltree u will get this effect for very hard too. if you level them up quickly via skilltree to maximum rank and play them on normal, they are so op that you get bored in skirmish. bots dont scale down, if u have max lvl bots they are like made for nightmare difficulty.

if the player rank is below that of the bots, which i often see, i honestly don't see a problem with progression being too slow.

when the bots were new i had to level them up too, had to play below my difficulty level, they level up fastest if you can be sure to play at a level where you can successfully play through 16 waves with total victory and this is exactly how you learn their mechanics perfectly.

I would like to lock a bot to my character in MP, just have them as an observer to my char but they gain a portion of the exp without being on the map doing anything. They could be like an announcer like metal gear "hunters incoming boss" etc instead of the AI person.

Why won't you just host yourself?
Host a daily challenge, get some players in and rake in exp.
