Secondary missions also are now guaranteed to give a single capture trap when you finish them, so it's certainly not impossible to get at least one.
If you want large buffs, capture specific monsters on deployment. 1 desecrator leader will give you 20% damage.
1- 5 HP for 10 behemoths is a lousy advantage, long term or otherwise. It's like that old line about spending your good years on the company and getting gold watch. Is it a nice watch? Sure. Was it worth what you spent to get it? No.
2- Nobody mentioned you get in-mission buffs for captures, so that information would have been helpful... about 30 hours ago.
100% agree, but tbh, there are so many other things that take priority, to spend points on, to give you the flexibility to play how you want on the various classes.
The beastiary buffs are probably the last thing I would spend points on, but I agree with the sentiment of this thread, they should scale slightly, with the point cost / difficulty of the capture to make them a competitive choice.
Energy as mentioned is also important, one of my build completely relies on having these buffs(it works without them, but its not "automatic").
Damage however, as I've already said, is supposed to be only a little edge, because everything in the game is balanced around damage.
You think 5% is not a lot, but now multiply needing 1 shot less to kill an enemy over the entire game and you'll start seeing a huge impact on balance of ammunition economy.
Equip ASV or SGAR and suddenly, these 5% are a whole lot of damage.
10 Zombies
10 Fat Zombies
10 Brutes
10 Ghoulers
10 Behemoths
10 Fiends
10 Devourers
10 Etaphreven
10 Mritunjaya
And 5% damage is 10 extra damage on the SGAR, and 20 on the ASV's single shot mode. That's not enough to kill in 1 less shot unless you're fighting something like a Desecrator on Nightmare with maxed STROL. You didn't think I'd actually do the math, did you?
That 5% increase scales further with terminator exhausts, dio striker buff, heavy targetting system, capture buffs and enemies health can be decreased up to 20% by destroying strol substances, 60 health is up to 20% of some classes base health.
Again, bestiary unlocks were never supposed to be powerful, profile unlocks are horizontal scaling with bestiary and suit upgrades being something that's more of a long term to-do small, low priority buffs.
You still can get the captures extremely fast and easy via campaign.
1. Note that I specifically mentioned Nightmare difficulty
2. THEN WHY MAKE THEM AT ALL? The devs could have coded a new prefab or mission objective or weapon or enemy or sat around the house jerking off with all that extra time.
Something small to work towards over time, before the addition of medals, along with incentivizing holding capture traps to capture certain monsters instead of slapping it onto the first Atrocity or even Brute you see.
