Healing Pets

Can someone tell me how I can heal a pet that has taken damage in battle? Some types of food say they can heal creatures, but how can I give this food to my pet?

Healing the pet requires you to drop food in front of it, while it is NOT in the 'Wait Here' setting. So typically in your party on 'Follow'. If it is 'Wait Here' it won't move to eat the food.

I forgot to mention, it seems to work better when you step back a bit, to give the pet a little space. The space seems related to the size of the pet, so the bird needs a little more space than most. Not lots, just don't drop it and stand right over the top of it.

The amount of healing seems to be related to the amount of hunger the food restores. Raw edible mushroom parts are only a few hundred. Higher value foods like beetle sausage can restore IIRC something like 1600 health.

I just carry stacks of grilled mushrooms around, since aetherians occasionally drop grilled mushrooms as loot. That way they all stack up neatly, and takes fewer inventory slots.
