Question about new worlds/old worlds
I'm thinking about starting a new character so I can experience the new story line. I have built many bridges, stairs, and shelters all over the map, with my previous character. Can I start in the world I already built in, or do I need to start in a whole new world?

id say even if you can use the old world use new, its an entire new adventure to have fun with and do things differently.

Yes, you can. You pick a character first, then pick a world to spawn into. You can bring your super maxed out character into a totally new world, or a new character into an old existing world.

If you make an alternate character it appears at the last spawn reset point your other character set. There's only 1 spawn point for your steam id in the game. All your characters will appear at the same place.

This has some strange benefits. One of my alternates has intelligence maxed out, and I Used them to make legendary gear. But my other characters can't repair it without having at least level 80 intelligence. I can put all the damaged legendary gear in a box, log out, then log back in as the max int character. He will spawn at the same place, and can repair it. It's like I have a pocket crafter. You can also use an alternate character as a bag of holding. Load them up with consumables like potions, bandages, arrows. Then have them spawn into the game, and they move stuff from their inventory into a chest. Then switch back to your main character. Both will spawn at the same location.

Be advised that treebases are _per character_, not steam account. If your main character built the tree base, your alternate character won't see it if they go to the top of the tree. Treebases don't persist after the owner leaves the game world. And the alternate can't summon it, only the owner can.

They'd either have to make their own treebase, or you'd need to build down on the ground at a fixed location. Since great tree (and treebase locations) only appear in the starting forest area, I recommend that you just build on the ground. If it's a private server then you don't have to worry about strangers showing up and griefing stuff.

PS.

If a character is grouped up with a mount, the mount disappears when they leave. If you want the mount to be used by your other alternates, leave party before you log the other character out. Otherwise your alternate character won't see it.

This is so helpful! Thank you. I think I will have my old person build a small lean-2, with a bed in it, right near the new beginning story line. That way, my spawn point for the new guy will be at the beginning. Thank you for the insight.

You're very welcome.

I learned most that the hard way, when I started the max intelligence crafting alt character. It was a big shock when I found out I couldn't summon the main's treebase.

It's why I'm building a castle around the base of a certain great tree. It just started out as the workshop for the crafting alt, but just kept growing as I got sick of having to switch to my main to get stuff out of the main's treebase. Now it's a fully functional base, with all the crafting stations, storage, and living quarters.
Does that mean the two characters can't share storage aswell? 🙈
