and story wise its way better like this , than the old one. They even tell you that you can build your base on top of the trees
Because it was not clear at all? It took us a while to see there was a path.
That's way up there in frustration levels as dying during a locked cinematic and escort missions.
the path its really clear , you have grass on left and right so its pretty obvious you dont have to go there , if you see water or a blocked path or even a damn frog you will know that you're going the wrong way , you dont need to be a genius
Well said and there is nothing to add. The game imagines itself as survival, I don't know why people think that this is a fun farm.
I have no issues dispatching a wasp or two.
I'm mentioning my experience to let you know in advance I'm not an idiot as you're immediately assuming.
My issue is, that you're being attacked while reading a tutorial message, that you can NOT get out of by hitting escape.
If it happened just once, oh well. But four times!
It's not an added difficulty. It's just frustrating. I'm bloody reading how to manage inventory while an ant is chewing my leg off.
If I was an 8-year old just getting into a new game, that'd frustrate the hell out of me. It's poor design. Tutorial messages telling you how to move should give you the time to read.
So either pause the game while reading the initial tutorial messages, remove hostiles around the tutorial message signs, or allow invulnerability while reading or something. I've not seen this happen in YEARS.
Exactly this. Very well said.
It’s ok you can accept the new beginning is worse than the old one. Close the door now, shush. Don’t let it hit you on the wait out.
It's only a small gripe, but it did make me swear out loud after a few times of it happening.
This game its not made for an 8 years old kid , you couldnt bring up a worse example.
Whereas your suggestion would be to not read the messages? I'd call that poor design for a tutorial buddy.
You didn't answer- did you think that was good design then? You're still failing to contribute to this issue, aside from questioning my skill, so I think you and I are done.
new player here, veteran gamer
no way anyone other than hardcore gamers are going to make it to the "starting town" alive without being pretty frurstrated.
if there was an obvious road to town that would make sense but here i am going off road jumping over logs on the river and dodging giant bugs for 30 minutes just running for my life to get to the damn tutorial area by following the compass and map
this is going to turn off a LOT of new players
im looking for starting guides on youtube but none of the videos are even relevent anymore
I take it you've gotten there by now, but just for reference-
Your spawn point should be over by the dead wasp where you started- when lost or in trouble, if you quit and reload, you should show up there again.
After a chat with the wounded little person, you should get a map marker (M) of your destination, NW of your location.
There's a bit of a path north, and then northwest over some planks, that's marked by Owl statues. They have glowing eyes to start off with so should be fairly easy to spot, and when you click on them they'll give you a bit of a tutorial message.
Then just find the next statue further N , NW, just be careful as there's beasties that don't care if you're reading the messages :)
Once you cross the river, you're looking for a big tree with a little camp on the side of it. Make your way around the tree root to the camp and you've reached your first contact!
Small tip- pressing V shows weaknesses of opponents, the ants at the start don't like slashing, and one of your first starter weapons just happens to be a slashy sword :)
What happened in my case was that I followed the path until I reached several owl statues, however once I opened the map there was an npc icon right at the beginning that it seemed that I missed so I went all the way back looking for the npc and eventually ended up fighting some damselfly way off the starting path.
