What to do after Nok?
I completed fighting all the available mutated monsters around the map, most recently the giant bee.

Usually the game pops someone new up on the map, but there is no new icon. Any ideas where to go from here?

Nok was the one that sent you to fight the blue wasp, up on top of the dumpster. Been a while since I played through the beginning quests, but I think you're pretty near the end. At least of the whole quest chain that existed when the game launched.

By this point, you should have fought the rhino beetle on the shore and the albino spider in the swamp. There's a queen bee you can fight, but it's a side boss that's not part of the quest chain. Entirely optional bossfight.

The next target should be the big beetle under the church, on the south side of the map. The one with the amulet around it's neck.

Ah ok, thanks.

Do you at any point go north of the map or is the bird there to get people to buy DLC?

Yes, there's a quest chain that sends you _under_ the river. There's a secret door, tunnels, the whole shebang. You need to follow the quest chain to get the door unlocked. Just finding the door won't work unless you do the quest to open it.

That quest starts when you finish the main quest chain (that existed when the game launched), which was find the recipe to the super healing item in order to save the queen. That quest ends when you kill the giant beetle under the church area. The one with the amulet hung around it's neck.

I don't want to spoil anything, but that quests turns out to be not that simple. The next installment of that quest sends you across the river to an area called the forbidden monuments. The "monuments" turn out to be playground equipment. Forbidden monuments turns out to be a children's playground on the side of the road, before entering a national park... which is the forested area we all start in . Adjacent to forbidden monuments are two other expansion areas.

Once you get across to the forbidden monuments, I suggest you hang out there for a while until you unlock all the tech, weapons, and armor from there. You're gonna need it for the amber valley and further areas. The enemies in forbidden monuments are MUCH stronger then anything in the rest of the game. If you're not careful, they will curbstomp you. The stuff in the amber valley is in some ways, worse. If you're arachnophobic, be warned that one of the major common enemies in that area are tarantulas. Honkin huge hairy spiders.

Thank you so much for writing that out. So I've beaten every creature and I assume I've beat the queen (Bee Queen)? If not, the queen is the missing piece to get those doors open (which I haven't found yet, but REALLY good to know). The walkthroughs aren't the greatest or my game is perhaps glitched.

I have 3 Wasps following me at the moment so hoping that's ok for backup + stone armour equipped. Sucked during the winter.

No, the queen bee is a side boss, having nothing to do with quests.

I'm trying not the spoil too much, for you or for other players, but spoilers below.

Beat the stag beetle boss, the big one under the church area, with the amulet around it's neck.

on the amulet is the key to the big chest in the elder's cave.

Open the chest back in the elder's cave, and you find... ta da duh! only _half_ the recipe for the potion the queen needs. Someone ripped it in half and took off with the rest.

The half of the scroll is an item you can take.

Show the half scroll to the guy in the elder's cave. He says it's in a language he can't read, but knows who can.

Send you on a quest to go to the stairs at the back of the ruined church, and down into the crypt below.

The crypt is a huge maze, with you working around the outside walls to reach a guy called the historian.

Alternately, if you have flying mounts like the wasp... when you come down the stairs into the crypt, the historian is off to the left RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. If you can fly over the water (and look out for grey flies), you can just fly to him.

Show historian the scroll.

He says he needs a book back, that he sold to the merchant. Merchant is on a boat, south below the church. Flying down and back is the easiest way.

The merchant will sell the book to you for pyrite which you can mine on the stairs leading down to the crypt, or hoots. Pyrite is the quickest way, since it's right there. Sorry, I don't remember how much pyrite.

Buy the book, bring it back to the historian, and he tells you the rest of the quest.

I think he sends you back to the elder again (memory is getting hazy). Just follow the rest of the quest.

At the ends, a doorway icon will show on your map. The doorway is on the west side down at the beach level of a ruined stone bridge that went across the river. There is a footpath, but flying down is easiest.

Open the door, follow tunnel. bring lots of torches. Halfway through the tunnel, there's a big black beetle. There's a lab farther on (down side passages) from the guy who create the cure potion. Has some lore tidbits.

Follow the tunnel the rest of the way, and you come out at the base of the cliffs below the forbidden monuments.

High suggest you immediately stop and make a mini-base, with some crafting stations. So you don't need to run back and forth through that tunnel constantly.

Be aware the creatures in forbidden monuments for MUCH higher. Hornets on the monuments side will have average levels from 95-110. With MUCH better stats then the ones in the forest. Tame a few new friends, they will be able to fly much farther then the low levels from the forest area.
