Will I have to start a new game to get the new quest log?

I just bought this on PS5 and started it, played a couple hours. Right away I was missing a quest log. Then I see this is added in the most recent beta. So now I'm wondering if I should continue on with my current playthrough, or stop and wait for this update on console next year if it's going to make me start over to take advantage of it.

Ok, great! I think the beta news said to start a new game, but maybe that was more just best practice for the beta build in particular.
