late game how to travel efficiently
How do you move efficiently in the late game? I'm doing everything on foot, but it literally takes me around 20 minutes to get back to my base, which is on one of the trees in the center of the map. Also, I can't cross the river using a catapult because I keep getting attacked by a bird, even though I gave the guy the 10 stink glands. What’s the best way to travel efficiently in the late game without having to farm for hours to get the blue bird?

Late game, you use the icarus wings on your character. They allow powered take off, and to flap your wings while in flight to stay aloft. Uses stamina though, so you will run out eventually. But they are fast and maneuverable. You can cross whole sections of the map very quickly with just the wings.

The blue tit bird from the forbidden monuments is very fast. There's apparently a bug that was added in the last release that's preventing a hawk repellent from working. Before you get the repellent, any attempt to fly over the river dividing the forest/grey lands from forbidden monuments causes you to get snatched up by the hawk and carried back to the forest side. The blue tit is like flying a plane though. It has a minimum speed, which is still realllllly pretty fast. Landing it can be a pain. The amber valley has anti-aircraft cannons too. Not sure why they added the bird, then added things to shoot it down. A little baffling there.

Black hornets from forbidden monuments are also decent speed. Raise their stamina to max, all 100 levels. With a very high stamina they can fly indefinitely. When stamina drains to zero (important, it has to reach zero), they can begin to regain stamina while still flying. You fly up while you have stamina, and sort of glide when you run out (but it starts recharging). You will up and down like a sine wave, but you can fly continuously.

Alternately, I travel around on a scorpion a lot. Level it to max on stamina, so you can run nearly continuously. To me at least personally, it's run speed is just fast enough to make me think I'm getting somewhere quickly. There are much faster mounts, but the scorpion is a tanky melee fighter... which the other mounts really are not. It's also possible to jump about 5-6 times in a row, so I can bounce along like a kangaroo. But it drains stamina to empty super fast. I try to save stamina for fighting. Also, the scorpion takes no fall damage. At all. So I take shortcuts where I simply jump off of cliffs, rather then crawl down. Wheee, super fast to the bottom. It also has a surprising ability to climb up super steep angles. As long as the angle does not reach nearly straight up and down, it should stick.

Hope that helps.
Blue tilt is the best way to travel.
I have no problems crossing the Hawk's area while i ride the Tilt.
The cannons in the valley could be a problems but they don't actually kill the bird, and you can disable them by findind and kill all the Aethers (usually 2 scouts and 1 elite).

The issue with the hawk repellent is a new bug, only affecting players who just completed the quest in the last few days.

I move around a lot with Lubbers she jumps quite far and quickly, just avoid landing in the water
If you need to go back to the area you were gathering for example, just place a bed in the area, go get deaded :deadjeff: and simply spawn at your tree empty your inventory go get deaded :deadjeff: :deadjeff: again and then respawn on the bed you placed in the other area.

You can only set one bed a time. It doesn't work that way.

It really does work that way. You do not need a bed in your tree, the tree itself is a spawn location. Look at the top left of these screenshots, therefore this creates a fast travel option.

Actually, i was just killing myself. i had another camp and bed in the forbidden zone. slept in that bed, and only that bed, to set it as my re spawn point, and keep it that way. then i would just kill my self and i could choose either my tree base or my north yard base to re spawn at. as far as i can tell, there is no durability penalty for dying in this game. so there is no downside to killing yourself all the time. it's almost like having fast travel, lol.
Some people consider dying failure. They try really hard not to die.
