So little inventory, so much to carry
Hello there!

Really enjoying the game so far! But is it just me or is your inventory really, really tiny?

You have to carry around lots of different weapon types for all the enemies in the game, several different tools for gathering plus healing items, food, some basic resources to make an emergency shelter (cause you can't find everything everywhere) and I haven't even STARTED with potions and the like.

For a loot-and-gather-heavy game your inventory and the absence of backpacks seems like a weird design choice to me. My inventory when I start a trip out of my base is already half full and as I said, that's excluding potions as I haven't crafted any yet.

The ladybug is all well and good but currently it's way too bugged (ha!) for me and the risk of simply losing all my stuff because it got stuck at a river or at a small ledge is too high for me to use it.

Is there something I'm missing?

I see what you are saying, and I was thinking the same thing. I ended up only having one weapon of each damage time (pierce, edge, and blunt), bow, build hammer, and bandages. I only carried like 2 types of food. The rest of for collecting on what I harvested.

When I filled up, if just put them if chests at base. If i was full, i had to sacrifice some items for harder to collect items.

Tame a ladybug who follows you around and has 20 inventory slots.

Just craft the Whistle and just call it if its save and you need it
Clear out an area, call the ladybug, store the stuff in the ladybug, get the hell outta dodge. I've not had a problem with inventory after taming Lady. She mostly sits at home and when I need her, I just call her and she comes running... or rather teleports and then I load her up and then we go back home.

what would you do .. if and when they decide to change the whole.. logging out brings you back to your last spawn point ? what then.. your ladybug will still be at risk of dying from enemies as you run home.. then you wont have any room to carry the inventory if your ladybug even drops it all on death

THat is what I do. I keep it on stay in my base until I need it. I then whistle it to me, pack it with excess loot and park it somewhere safe again and once back in my base I whistle it back and make it stay there again so it never runs around and gets killed.

Just tell it to stay in a safe spot, kill your foe(s) and whistle for it when you want it. repeat the process as needed.

At a slight tangent, I really do wish the hotbar acted as sort of inventory slots so that stuff on it didn't also take up actual inventory space. It's also a PITA when swapping to another item on the hotbar then creates a space in your Inventory into which the game jams anything it feels like when you pick some resources up. Stuff ends up completely disorganised in your inventory.

That is the thing, I don't log out and log back in to go back to my base. I run back, with Lady right behind me. I wouldn't log out outside of base, regardless if this was going to be a thing or not. And if I have to, I'll build a shelter for her (if they implement that).

I think there needs to be a fix with the ladybug so they don't stop running from the predatory bugs instead.

This! I'm one of those that likes to keep certain things in certain places of my inventory. It drives me nuts when my pickaxe is all the way at the top or is where the hatchet is supposed to be. Also would prefer the hotbars being part of the inventory as well instead of having the item in my inventory AND the hotbar.

But isn´t this much more risky than just parking it somewhere safe and then using the whistle once you are back in base?

Inventory management is a key element in survival games. The carrying inventory should remain small at least for the sake of realistic practicality. As for the Ladybug. Use strategy.
You know she's fragile. Tell her to stay at your base before heading out. When you're out, move to a safe location away from predator's before calling her. Use the Ladybug inventory and then tell her to stay. If she's following you all over the map, she's not going to make it. When you're far enough away and want to call her again, she's not going to run all the way to you, she will just spawn beside you.

Still he has a point, there is a lot you have to carry. Tools and weapons should not be taking up 2 spots. (inventory and Hot bar). For instance, When equipped on the hot bar they should no longer take up space in your inventory. It should be like the Armor, once it is equipped it no longer takes up space in your inventory, this is how tools and weapons should be handled as well.

Yes that would be really nice.
