Tamed insect eating insect parts
Hello all! I’m pretty new to Smalland and I’m loving it! I looked at the other discussions to make sure I didn’t double post and even googled my problem and nothing came up. So, I am out hunting the mat needed for the incense and if one of my tamed insects get hit, they’ll eat the dead insect parts and the mat I’m needing for the incense. I know that I can leave them at my base and go hunting alone but I like having them with me. If there a way to get them to stop doing this? Thanks in advance.

Yes, set them to "wait" instead of follow. They won't move once you get off of riding them.

Set them back to "follow" when you want them to move and chow down on parts, or food you drop.

If I did that then they wouldn’t follow me around, right? I’d have to keep interacting with them. I guess I should hunt alone and just not hunt things I know I’d die to 😂

Yes, correct. I mainly use a ridable tame, specifically a scorpion. So most of the time I'm riding and controlling it. I'd set them to wait so they wouldn't go running off, and then found out they wouldn't move from that spot, so it kept them front eating the parts.

Oh I see. I’ll definitely keep this in mind when farming for the mats. I usually keep 3-4 insects with me and when they go to the pile of insect parts, you can’t bump into them to move them so it’s a bit frustrating lol Wish there was an option to turn that off though but I understand it’s early access. I appreciate you replying.
They need to fix it so I can actually walk up to the insect interact with it and tell it to stop following me because the moment I move up to it it moves away I'm not on mouse and keyboard I'm on controller on PlayStation and this is extremely frustrating. I should not have to spend 30 to 45 seconds slowly nudging my way towards the insects maximum interact range.

Since they are already working on a ping system for multiplayer it needs to be implemented for single player as well to give commands to a specific location to tell the insect to go there and wait..

In one more bug I need to gripe about on console both Xbox and PlayStation it is impossible to receive any at all contribution rewards because all you can do is open and close the tab despite the fact that my contributions are maxed out at one of the camps

They eat things if they are injured, I've found. To heal themselves.
