You don't need to get contribution points to get wings. They used to be integrated into the armor, but now it's a separate item that comes with the armor set.
As far as I'm aware there are two NPCs who each teach you how to make a pair of wings in the main area that don't require any sort of contribution points. Those are the regal armor and ironwing armor.
The first wing is free, just talk to her. She is located near your first camp, she appears on the map soon you talk to the elder.
the videos youre watching are outdated. pay attention to the date they got posted. vidoes older than 2023 arent worth anything anymore.
Yeah, those vids are probably really outdated. In the past there were only two sets of armor with built in wings, and most people used the chest armor of one of those sets automatically to get the advantage of gliding. It kind of locked you into the look of that armor pc, which might have contrasted with the rest of the armor you wanted to wear.
Now (as others above said), they're a totally separate item not tied to any particular armor set. There are two sets of gliding wings you can make. One is made from any flying insect wing parts and some other resources. The second is made from the blue wasp wings dropped by a boss (which used to be required to make a specific armor set, the second set with built in wings in the past).
There's also a 3rd wing slot item that you unlock later on when you get to the forbidden monuments section of the map. I don't want to ruin the surprise on what those wings do, but they're hands down the best in the game when you reach that point.
