wings questions....
ok ive watched a ton of guides...they say regal bee armor is first you get. It says (in the youtube guide) it has built in wings. yet im seeing other stuff indicating it dont. Plus now i see you need these contribution points to get them. Um...i solo play this will take freakin forever to do this :( is there any way to turn off the contribution points requirement?

You don't need to get contribution points to get wings. They used to be integrated into the armor, but now it's a separate item that comes with the armor set.

As far as I'm aware there are two NPCs who each teach you how to make a pair of wings in the main area that don't require any sort of contribution points. Those are the regal armor and ironwing armor.

Talking with the Bee Lady will teach you how create your first wing, you dont need contribution points for it, only if you wanna create the Butterfly Wings.
The first wing is free, just talk to her. She is located near your first camp, she appears on the map soon you talk to the elder.

the videos youre watching are outdated. pay attention to the date they got posted. vidoes older than 2023 arent worth anything anymore.

Yeah, those vids are probably really outdated. In the past there were only two sets of armor with built in wings, and most people used the chest armor of one of those sets automatically to get the advantage of gliding. It kind of locked you into the look of that armor pc, which might have contrasted with the rest of the armor you wanted to wear.

Now (as others above said), they're a totally separate item not tied to any particular armor set. There are two sets of gliding wings you can make. One is made from any flying insect wing parts and some other resources. The second is made from the blue wasp wings dropped by a boss (which used to be required to make a specific armor set, the second set with built in wings in the past).

There's also a 3rd wing slot item that you unlock later on when you get to the forbidden monuments section of the map. I don't want to ruin the surprise on what those wings do, but they're hands down the best in the game when you reach that point.

So what you're talking about sounds like what gameplay was like when I started playing nearly 3 years ago, long before the XP system was introduced. At that time, the regal chestplate was the first one you got that had wings and each one after that actually had he wings built in as part of the chestplate itself unlike now where the wings are placed into their own slot on the character loadout. So those videos are quite old and out of date and you don't need to worry about them.
