How to revive or un-faint a companion creature?

My pets get knocked out or faint when their HP hits 0, then they just lay there with two light thingies floating around its head for the longest time. I can't heal them at all, then, they just die. No amount of food or healing items thrown in the ground in front of it will revive them. What can I do?

Incense that can revive them, reddish look. Unless I'm mistaken it's made on a crafting bench. Aim and shoot just like a bow.

reviving incense. it's not unlocked by default. you need to talk to one of the NPCs and you'll discover the recipe. i'm not sure who unlocks it, but they give you the first creature trap also. i'm thinking it's Nok who gives it to you but i'm really quite new to this game so i could be mistaken. all i know is one of the NPCs give you the recipe because i was having a hell of a time trying to find it when i had the same issues as you. so if you haven't unlocked it yet, just follow the questline a bit more and it should soon be craftable.
