ahhhh that makes sense, THANKS!
You need to kill a lot of mantis if you want to make the mantis armor, so good chance you'll get an egg. As an extra bonus, the incubating egg will be attacked by more mantis, so free mantis loot! Delivered to your doorstep. Wooot woot.
Yes, I highly recommend you build solid defences around the incubator, with an air gap between it and the walls. Its no fun finally getting an egg and loosing it when the raiding mantis' destroy the incubator. But there's plenty more where that came from.
Can the red mantis drop red mantis eggs?
Is there a chance to get a red mantis from the egg instead of a green mantis?
No clue. All the green mantis eggs I've hatched have produced more green mantis. But I don't have a huge sample pool to work from.
Nope. Traps have no effect at all on mantises. Even at 100% health, a trap will still trigger for any other critter. Mantises are entirely immune to traps just like the wasp queen, ancient frog, frog & viper. And yes, that's both green and red mantises.
