Seasons & Armour
I love that the game has seasons, but they should be more challenging and have more special rewards, like things that are only available in a specific season for example. When I first played I expected Winter to have less resources and started stockpiling food and materials and was a bit disappointed almost, when everything was still available (though I think stuff respawns more slowly?).

I also thought, it was too easy, that the cheap warm armour, that you can craft right at the start, is enough for winter, I was expecting I would freeze in that one. Winter should be colder than a thunderstorm in summer and the more expensive armour (or another even warmer one) should also protect you from the storms in the other seasons.

Another idea for winter would be that parts of the river, or just the still water could freeze over, so exploring (in your super warm armour) becomes easier.

The storms should happen more in spring and fall, and in summer you should instead need to wear lighter armour to not overheat. The way it is now, there is rly not much need to craft all the armours, I would like them to all be more necessary.

I too was surprised how easy it was to go about your daily business with any armor. If you start to get cold in your summer clothes, no problem, plop down a campfire and get comfortable and your good to go. Dev should definitely make it more worth it to take consideration into which armor you go with. I think it kinda did when the first time I played through, but the second time, I don't notice the winter cold bothering me at all....which is shame.

I love the idea for ice freezing over the streams and icing things over. Ice cycles hanging that could drop as you pass by or disturb a branch/leaf, icey streams that get iced over and some cases can break through as you walk. Thematically, that all happens. Depending on how cold it is, it can freeze rivers, streams, and lakes. With warmer temperatures, snow melts causing ice to break and water to rise.

I like the idea of having snow being deep and changing the landscape completely. Snow drifts, areas covered in snow with a hole or canyon dropping down. Having snow tunnels, and newer winter animals like foxes coming out and hunting for food. It would be nice if there was some randomization to the landscape and creature/plant locations.

My first experience with winter was that it was pretty tough. But once you get the Primal armor, its not really an issue. I'd be happy with the devs expanding on that, but its a really fine balance. There is abundant evidence that some player dislike any kind of environmental hazard, so the devs have to navigate those dangerous waters with a fine touch.

Having ice form over the rivers is a brilliant idea. Given the survival theme, making the ice variable thicknesses so you can only tell that is safe to walk on while using your antennae. But safe to walk on isn't necessarily safe to run or jump on. Again, you can only truly tell with your antennae. Just an idea.

Similarly using antennae to know the true terrain under the snow.

I think with the current settings for reducing or raising difficulty as well as any requests I've read pleading to have the option/control to turn various things on/off...this would probably be included in that umbrella. I read a lot of comments with people struggling with the difficulty now, and thats with the power to change it in the settings....then there's those who might be considered more seasoned and didn't have much challenge. So I agree its a fine line, learning the mechanics and even just being aware of settings to change things.

I really like the idea of using the antenna sense to try and spot hidden dangers. The other thing they could add that adds to that is warning sounds, or a variable of sounds. Like sometimes starts to crack, but still holds and other times, the ice was way to thin and just breaks instantly. Having sounds that reflect that tension really helps that immersion.

Also, the overall sound in antenna sense seems a bit off to me. I can tell its trying to focus on sounds, but then the sounds becomes a bit annoying while trying to harvest resources. But I think if they focused on that amplified sound, you could hear the cracks in the ice, you could hear the sound from a draft in lower snow chambers/vibrations it causes in the snow structures....thematically I think it works.

I also would prefer, if the tier one building parts would not protect you from freezing inside in the winter. Just to make it more realistic and to have more of an incentive for building with higher tiers. maybe the wooden parts should only be enough, when you also have a "chimney" (just a campire would do for now).

That would all be really great, would be a lot of effort to implement though I suppose.
I hope at least some further customisation of the seaons could be implemented, like resources, plants mainly, that are already in the game only being availabe during a certain season, but then in an abundance.

As I wrote in my post, getting the primal armour isn´t even necessary, at least not to protect you from the cold, since the padded one you can have crafted by Herne right at the start, has the same cold protection (9). Primal has regular protection 3 (head 2) and the padded only has 1, but no movement speed penalty (primal -2%), so even though I did craft the primal one, I haven´t even been using it, cause I don´t like the speed penalty.

I like that idea! In late winter/spring, the melting ice would be a new hazard.
