Account Required?
On the title screen I appear to be forced into creating an account. There didn't appear to be any way around it. There didn't appear to be any explanation for why an account is necessary. I guess the game just assumes that everyone playing is going to want to experience online features? It is listed as having Single Player gameplay along with co-op support.

If you wish to collect anonymous usage data to help support the continued development of the game, I will opt-in to that. That type of feature usually only requires a consent checkbox not an account (because then the data wouldn't be very anonymous)

So please let me know why an account is required to play the game. It would be awesome if Steam could put that kind of information front-and-center before I buy and install, before I'm surprised by this requirement.

Thanks. I took your advice and indeed you are correct. What is even the point of that prompt then? Very strange.

The devs need to display it in the game info section where it says "single player" "online co-op" etc etc on the store page...because it's a bit turn-off for a lot of people.

Weird I was not prompted that I needed to log in to my epic account and epics not running in the background so it wouldn't know I had one.

Good to know! I was waiting for the account creation window to pop up and was worried it would show up mid game like some reviewer had mentioned.

I would assume clicking on "new account" would create a new account (where, on EGS?). Is this not the case?

For me, clicking on "New Account" simply cleared the window. I don't have the Epic launcher installed right now and there was no mention of it that I saw. It was literally just an annoying popup that seemingly has done nothing at all.

This is weird, what is happening then? You would not have a GUI pop up for a new account creation for no reason...

If it was left in the game code by accident pull it, so there is no prompt for an account.

If it remains, I feel someone needs to explain what is actually happening here. I didnt see any 3rd party account notice warnings on the STEAM game page...

I was about to buy this game, until I saw two posts about strange forced account creation windows.

Same, I would prefer the dev. remove it if it does nothing or explain why it is there. So everyone know and not something pass through without their consent, because it does say the word "New Account", new account of what?. It doesn't sit well if this bring to the court of law.

I have the same questions and seeking clarification from the developers. Why is this showing up on Steam? When you click on, "Sign into existing account", it opens your browser and redirects you to an Epic window allowing you to sign into your account.

I understand this is also sold on the Epic Games Store which I can understand why that would pop up but this is coming from the Steam platform.

The other post called "I smell EPIC" a user states this...

"I dont have Epic launcher or account but i did make an account because when your at title screen for first time, a browser will pop up in the background to make an Epic account, and then you gotta verify it thru your email, then itll let ya host online game with friends, it WONT bring up or ask you to download thier Epic launcher."

I think we need some clarification on what is happening here, please.

Honestly, what does this even mean? This approved answer makes no sense at all, and no one is commenting on the forced account load page while launching the game...

Their answer is not acceptable. If it does nothing then why anyone need to click it. Either remove it or explain to your customers why they need to click it. This just bring more suspicion on their end something is actually going on if they don't take it down. I hope they deal with it asap before someone files a complain on them.
