If some sort of farming system was implemented, it's possible that it could provide more than going out and finding it yourself. Think of the alternative before going and making negative comments of people.
I hope they let us farm/garden at some point. Growing veggies for food and also flowers etc. I have quite a large garden irl, and can tell you firsthand there is NO laziness in farming. It's quite hard work. Same for a game. Instead of just running around clicking on take all as you pass by, you would have to have a plot of land, dig it, plant it, water it, then can gather the resources. More work involved.
Games that have farming system are very fun. That's all. It's a game and it has to be fun, the more fun things you add the more fun it will be. It has nothing to do with laziness, this is not a job, it is a game. Also, a farm is sometimes more work than going to gather the strawberries that have already grown, you don't have to water them or fertilize them and they appear there by magic, so maybe the people who prefer that are the lazy ones.
(However, there is a very fragile balance between "fun" and repetitive as a job). The most fun farming system I know is the one in Final Fantasy 14
The only problem I see is what are you going to grow? you are a miniature person, plants are too big for you and your land-house. Greetings
