My tombstone shows on the map but is not visible when i arrive...

it has happened at two different places on the map now and ive started over twice and lost everything. If you are gonna put all my inventory in a tombstone every time i die please make sure it is available for me to retrieve!! I am done... I will not grind and start over again from nothing just to loose it all over again.

I recommend you go to the Burrow, the cave where you started. The Gravestones eventually leave the death spot and end up just outside this spot.
I'm not sure what causes it to move there, but soon enough your stuff will be there, based upon my experience.

How long does it take? I have one can't access but it hasn't moved yet. Nothing much in it but is annoying as want the marker gone from map.

It was added in a patch for it to do that so maybe it only effects graves since the patch.

It could be above or below where you are. Like on a tree branch or inside a hollow log

I have done some testing to see if it is time-dependent or event-dependent. For example, does logging out and in trigger it, or does claiming a different tree trigger it, or sleeping.
The lack of result from 'trigger; testing suggests it is time-dependent, but I may not have found the right trigger. In any case, I don't know how long it takes. I just know it happens at some point.
