Inventory space too small
Game kinda forced you to have so many weapons for the different damage types, and the wood axe, the pick axe, a torch, build hammer (for storms), supplies to build a storm shelter, per whistle, food, healing supplies…

It makes the game super annoying later on when you are trying to collect stuff. You run out of inventory so fast due to being forced to use almost two bars with required items.

Agreed.

And there's one simple fix. Make the hotbar be actual storage for weapons, tools, and items. Right now all those things take up space in your main inventory.

Having 8 extra spaces would hit a sweet spot where it's not too ridiculous, but just enough extra space that you still have to pick and choose what you carry.

If you want to carry every type of weapon, sure.
But 2-3 weapons (spear, sword, and bow for me), hatchet, pickaxe, health pot, bandages, and food only take up 8 slots.
That leaves you with 23 slots (or 22 in my case, since I carry an extra tool, based on what I'm planning to harvest). I'd say that's a decent amount, since there's no weight restrictions. Valheim has the same amount, but with the weight restriction, which makes gathering heavy mats a real pain.
Age of Conan and Ark have pretty much unlimited inventory space, but again the weight restrictions. Much more carry capacity than Valheim, though, especially since you can load up mounts, and when you start getting into mid-late game you're usually overflowing with mats.

I think inventory should be somewhat limited in survival games, or it just makes gathering and exploring too easy. If you can carry every weapon and tool you could possibly need, and still have plenty of room for loot, there's no need to make a choice of kit. You just load up everything and head out, no problem. And as annoying as, for example, finding a bunch of mats you've been looking for when you're already full of other stuff or didn't bring the right tools can be, I like having to make that decision.

Though 8 more slots (like specifically for the hotbar) would hardly be game breaking.

For me, it's annoying that in every game I have played in years, from Ark to Minecraft, the Hotbar is considered as sort of Inventory slots in their own right. If I put something on my Hotbar it does not remain in my Inventory.

I also don't like it in Smalland when changing to a different tool or weapon the game plays a strange version of Tetris with my inventory's organisation. Stuff ends up all over the place!

Yeah, the inventory shuffling in annoying!

inventory is really small; therefore - i try to avoid transporting all the raw material across the card. i process some of it on site. for example, i melt down iron ingots directly at the greylands; i also process the clay for the clay mortar on site. this reduces the amount of material to be transported enormously. The materials to build the stations for the processing are easy to farm, when you're done processing your raw materials - you just leave the workbench there as it is; you can use it another time if needed and put a marker on your card to find it next time.

I already found the inventory to be too small in my first session, and not that I have progressed further into the game, it becomes really annoying. I can't really move too far from my tree base or I have to backtrack too much just to declutter my inventory. Also, stack sizes for common materials like fibres or wood need to be bigger than 30, making them at least 99 or something like that would come a long way in making inventory management less frustrating.

I would like the hotbar to be seperate inventory too, but also later when they add stabling which I hope means you can have several tames but only use one at a time they need to make the ladybug able to avoid predators. For example they fly way or run and hide and you need the whistle to get them back after the danger has passed or been killed. Otherwise the ladybug has no use outside of Peaceful mode since it gets wrecked by everything

Hence why you have a cute little teleporting chest called "Ladybug". Find a safe space or build one. Summon ladybug. Fill it up. Continue harvesting. Get full. Return Home. call ladybug and empty it out. Don't have your pets following you. When you whistle thay safely teleport to you so just be in a safe spot.

Oh, you mean the ladybug that’s constantly dying die to horrible AI? Cool.

Inventory really needs some love.

1. Inventory is too small
2. Stack sizes too small
3. No sorting, auto stacking
4. Chests should be nameable

The ladybug AI is too clunky to be reliable for me to bother using it. I tried parking in in the vicinity of the Drain and summoning it but there are some tough beasties around there and very broken terrain. After losing two to god knows what I gave up on them.

Instead, I use the tree base near the Drain, so I can fly down to the area, load up my inventory until full and Quit/Play to my tree base. I dump my loot, then rinse and repeat. In all honesty I just wish we could make backpacks.

Climb a tree. They pop in right beside you

+1 I agree with all of these points. We definitely could do with another row in our inventory. I like to carry all my weapons with me, and other things I may need instead of having to run back to my base.
Stack sizes are too small, and sometimes they do not stack properly..taking up valuable inventory space
We need to name chests.

Tools and weapons also don't belong in inventory if they're in your belt ... just takes up unnecessary space. Except Grounded, I can't think of any other game where it was solved so unhappily.

Valheim. Same number of inventory slots, no separate hotbar inventory.
