YOU might think it shouldn't be part of any survival game but I hold the opposite view. Ark thrives with fast travel, mmorpgs thrive on it. People like what they like... or don't. Debate over game mechanisms like this are pointless. You won't persuade any people to your point of view and nor would I to mine.
And I personally _hate_ that mechanic. If I have to stop playing for any reason (real world events), and I forget to make a bed to reset respawn.... I will reconnect to my game to find myself allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back in my main base, instead of 10 steps from some destination I was trying to reach. To me, it's not a feature to be exploited, but one to be avoided... actively avoided.
It both giveth, and taketh away, in equal measures. And in my book, anything that both helps and hinders in equal measures means it's just about perfectly balanced. I avoid it by making beds, you can avoid it by deliberately not exploiting it. Both entirely within our control
We are the masters of our own destiny.
I agree with this.. If you don't like it then don't use it. Telling the rest of us that, this is some like of deal breaker or something like it, is nothing more then "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the sake of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥"
46 hours and I finally chose to complete the quests and kill all the bosses and I never knew there was a fast travel option..
For long expeditions I make a hut at my destination that includes a bed, then activate it and should I die that is where I appear. Handy for shorter corpse runs. Also handy for gathering stuff and when full, whistle to summon my ladybug and transfer stuff to it, then doing Quit/Play to camp out with my ladybug at my destination to store things in chests if I want to.
When I want to go to my main base, with my inventory and the ladybug inventory both full, I destroy the bed in the hut (the bed in my main base becomes the default spawn point) do the Quit/Play thing and I'm back in my main base.
But once again, I am actively trying to AVOID this "teleport" the OP is complaining about, not exploit it.
