"Not Enough Structural Support"
I'm trying to build a Tree Base but keep getting "Not Enough Structural Support" and cant place parts.
Wall, Floors, Roofs. One piece will snap into place and the next one wont.
There is no "structural strength" (Green, Yellow, Red) indicator of connecting pieces like in Valheim to indicate what needs support.
Doesnt help that there are also no "support beams" (horizontal/diagonal) to add support.
I cant figure out how to get around this problem.

I've finished the game and killed all the Bosses and would now like to build a cool epic base, but the game just wants be to build some boring 2 story box.
I've seen others screenshots of some amazing structures, but cant figure out how they did it.
Do different structure materials and building pieces have better support or are they all just cosmetic?
IMO building in Smalland is too restrictive and not very fun.
It would be nice if we could turn off the "Building Restrictions" and just Free-Build.

Any tips from Pro builders would be appreciated. THX

ive also tried building big i had a 3 high wall for my room a open area you can look down from 2nd floor and the rooms on the 2nd floor i wanted also 3 wall high and had trouble with support so i couldnt get what i wanted and had to make it two high until i either mess with it or leave it as it still looks fine. i tried putting pillars in the wall going up from foundations and in middle of the room but i would also like more info to learn the ways of building

Your fiber pieces don't support much. Wood pieces (using bark) supports more. Stone (using clay/stone) gives you the most. If you really want to build up higher then stone foundations, or at least stone pillars connected to stone foundations. Sort of like Valheim (though not a direct comparison), but the structural support system is similar and if you use stronger materials then they will support more pieces--which makes sense, right? Stone > Bark > Twigs/Fiber.

Ground arch pieces seem to add more support too.

Ok thanks. I wasnt sure if different materials actually had different support strengths
Game doesnt actually give any info on that.

I will use Stone for foundation and pillar support now

Thanks. I will try those too.

I'm sure you'll see the difference as I ran into the same issue using basic building pieces, but switched to stronger ones (stone) and was able to fix the structural support issues using the stronger materials.

Post a screenshot when you have your build finished, would be cool to see.

Definitely can see a difference when using Stone. Was able to start building something halfway decent.

Fiber pieces wont go very high like 5 blocks high if that. Wood support will get you about 7 blocks high. stone will get you about 5 blocks high too... stone foundation with wood walls will get you about 8 blocks high... stone foundation with 2 stone walls and 8 wood walls on top will get the highest ive ever built 10 blocks.

The higher you go the less you can build away from the walls so youll need wall supports (load bearing walls) more frequently. Assuming you go 2 blocks high per floor. with stone foundation you can build a house 2 stories tall with a roof with wood walls (load bearing walls every 4 blocks. or if you go 2 stone walls up and wood walls from there you can get about 3 stories in load bearing walls every 4 blocks.

but i would have to say the sweet spot right now is stone foundation and wood walls.

Very nice, I haven't gotten that ambitious yet. Might try something like that in the new world I'll be playing in with a friend, looks pretty good.

Also, probably obvious but it confused me at first, make sure you start with actual foundations. I sometimes tried to place Floor tiles directly on the ground thinking I wouldn't need foundations if it was flat and it definitely didn't work well lmfao

I would like to partially recant this comment.
After doing some more building I actually thinks it's quite fun with a lot of possibilities. I find it on par with Valheim and Conan.
Though in some areas I still find it a bit restrictive.
Mostly when it comes to 'Collision'. Very hard to place items close to the walls or near each other. I'd really like to be able to just turn 'Collision' off. I'm ok with some things clipping.

I hope they add some more building pieces soon. Especially Decorations.
I've got this Big Mansion with only a bookcase, a pop-top table and 4 chairs in it.
Could really use some interior and exterior items to really make it awesome.

Got a ways to go in early access, probably more items will be added eventually.

Oh, and by the way--make sure you find some fireflies, there will be a few more unlocks you might like (for home lighting).

Yeah I found a couple of fireflies and unlocked those. Though the Mats are so rare I'm hesitant to use them.

Fireflies can be found at night, just follow the green glow. Pretty much in an orbit around the center area of the map, I think.
