The axe and hammer are worth it due to the increase in damage from them. I was expecting a little more on the new armor but then disappointment set in when I saw the stats on them, especially as you mentioned what is needed to get the armor.
I'm still a little hazy about how it gets triggered, I'm thinking of double tap space while jumping... it's a little hard to test since I think there's a cooldown after use.
On a side note, since the stats are identical, you can mix and match whatever way you wanted. I really really really did not like the look of the pyrite helmet. Now I don't need to use it anymore, and can swap in the icarus helmet which looks great.
in fact, I'm using icarus helmet and breastplate, and still using the pyrite arms and legs (I don't like all the exposed skin on the icarus ones).
Yeah, they did nerf that. But I saw that as an "introductory offer", to help speed us through the quest and unlock passage to forbidden monuments.
But mining pyrite is not the best way to get hoots. Kill the aetherians. I just hit 5 aetherian camps and made 103 hoots. I start at the merry-go-round (it has 2 elites), then the camp at the base of the dead tree, then castle sandbox. Then I reverse and go back to the 2 first camps which will have respawned by then.
It's a lot less boring then mining pyrite, and I farmed a bunch of items off of them. The aetherians drop healing patches (the ones made with honey), lesser and regular healing potions, anti-poison potions, and food items. After those 5 camps, I have more healing items then I started with (despite chugging healing stuff continuously), and 2 whole stacks of food items.
You press whichever button you have set for sprinting to trigger the Icarus wing action while gliding.
As for the hoots, I will say, farming camps with the new level up system? Hasn't felt like an absolute punishment. So that I can get behind, I have done a few rounds and have near 100, so it's nice that that is the case. But...2000 pyrite for the full 500 hoots FEELS SO BAD.
