One tip for everyone. get the icarus wings first (you'll have to kill a bird for feathers, but you have to to get an egg anyway), it makes navigating the undercroft and getting the pyrite higher up on the walls much, much easier.
Second tip, get your strength attribute to around 25, it makes pyrite take 2 hits instead of 3 from the pickaxe.
Third tip, the colony spiders in the undercroft level you like craaazy and never stop coming, and if your strength is 30+ you basically one shot them with the pyrite greatsword. Just make sure to bring plenty of heals.
The greataxe is especially nasty. the damage listed in codex of 32-48 seems to be _per_ blade, it has two. And it's insanely fast. And since it's a bigger base damage number, the % increase from the newly added damage stat has way more impact on it. Bigger base numbers, so even a small % of that is still a huge extra bonus.
I've seen regular hits of 108, and power attacks of 198. I have level 46 damage attribute now.
With the aetherian greataxe, you can slice and dice the new hostile smallfolk very easily and quickly. In 20 minutes of raiding two encampments, I got 34 hoots. That would have been about 185 pyrite mined. One is fun, one is slow. They both earn hoots.
I finally got the bird. I spent hours gathering hoots from the bad guys scattered around the map, and I finally got enough to get it from Queen Malik. However, I don't know what to do next in terms of the story. does anyone have any tips? I know when I started all this that I was supposed to find the wizard...
SIDE NOTE: I started this at around lvl 2 this morning, and now at the end of today I'm lvl 52. That should give ppl a general idea of how long this took.
That's the slow and incredibly boring way to do it.
It's MUCH faster to kill the new hostile smallfolk over in Forbidden Monuments, the aetherians.
Aetherian scouts drop 2-3 hoots occasionally, and elites drop gauranteed 10-12 hoots. I hit 5 separate aetherian scouts, with an average of 4 guys per site, and made 103 hoots. All aetherians drop healing items (lesser and regular healing potions, and healing patches, the ones made with honey), and food items. Unless you get a lot, you will generally gain healing items and food faster then you use it up.
okay tank you :)
