The story ended for when I opened the Walnut chest. Where do we continue from there?
Do I need to go back and talk to the Elder?
I believe you need to talk to the historian after that, inside the chapel (?) ruins, either that or speak to the elder again and you'll see a "secret door" marker on your map
Ok I went and talked to the Elder but he didnt give me anything new.
No "Secret Door" or anything new on my map.
I guess I will try to find this Historian.
It's been a minute since I last played.
1. Get the scroll you found inside the locked walnut chest, the partial one.
2. Go to the elder, in the cave with walnut chest back where you started the game.
3. New conversation prompt about the scroll, click it.
4. Elder tells you to go talk to the historian, in the ruined chapel.
5. Historian tells you he can translate, but... he traded his book on the old language to the merchant on the boat.
6. Bring a bunch of pyrite with you, to buy hoots from the merchant. I usually mine every single node on the entire staircase anyways. You will need LOTS AND LOTS of hoots later on. Start saving now.
7. Buy Book on old language from merchant (buy hoots, then buy book).
8. Bring book back to historian, he translates, and learns of secret entrance of a passage leading _underground_ to the forbidden monuments. Door marker appears on map.
If you tame a hornet, this whole running around thing becomes trivial. You can fly down to the merchant, and then back up. Fly over or around 90% of the enemies in the way. Did that whole chain of events above in 10-15 minutes with a hornet.
When you enter the passageway underground, there's one black stag beetle in the middle. Heads up, enemies in the forbidden monuments have levels that go up to 80+ that I've seen so far. If you thought the big black beetles were nasty before, fight a high level one. It will mess you up.
Same goes for tames too. Tamed a level 81 hornet, and it started with
1102 hp
health 41
stamina 33
damage 43
speed 43
plus the 10 more level ups after taming
Plus as a bonus, the hornets in forbidden monuments are all black. They look sweet.
Same exact mechanic for taming as the low level ones elsewhere.
