Armor making question

I made it to the bee person in the north east, and after talking to them, can make that armor. But after talking to the person in the west about rock armor, I can't make rock armor. Did I miss something?

You used to have to have the NPC craft the armour for you, which got changed in one of the latest updates, so you can craft it yourself. I have not tried crafting any myself yet.
You probably need to craft the mandibular pick and mine some stones first, did you do that?

The armour sets can now be made by you, but they are on different crafting stations, but it appear the stone armour set can only be made by the NPC

This might be linked to that NPC having two armour sets, one for backers only and they did not want people to be able to craft those. You will out past stone armor fast anyway.

According to the patch notes, one of the sets still has to be made by the NPC. At least that's how I interpreted it. In my current play through the Stone Armour is not available at the Stone Cutting Table, even though I had Kalev give me the recipe. So my guess is the Stone Armour is the exception, which can't be made by the player.
