Here's a good guide on finding a therapist if your friend would like to stop having his life overly impacted by fear.

Thank you for that
It's no problem. Some people don't understand that fears are translated different by everyone. I hope they do have an option for the spiders for the sake of you and your friend. I used to be terrified of them as well and though it does not effect me now in games as it did I get it. It will be much more enjoyable for the both of you.
On another note, the developers seem to have a pinned comment that asked what people would like to see in game. They said they'd be actively reading it, maybe you'd like to post in there? c:

I'm not sure i can buy this game, grounded they looked cartoony, here they're too lifelike
That is actually an annoyance for me because Grounded added that and made a big show of how inclusive and accessible they were. Even asked what more they could do. Then even though asked by many and it being standard in many games never added other things, like, sound captions(they do have speech captions though). I'm glad it helps some people but it seems like they made a big tudo about one flashy feature people would talk about, then not actually add things commonly needed that many games do have since those wouldn't get them the attention.
Oh I understand. I have suffered from OCD(real clinical not pop culture idea of it), which at it's heart is a sort of phobia. Talking alone for sure wont be enough. Therapy is to give you the tools to think differently about it and to act on it. It takes a lot of time and effort but it can be gotten under control, even though never 100% gone.
I've also had to occasionally turn off a game and take a break to gather myself due to a situation triggering claustrophobia. So I know games can trigger actual fear. I empathize. I'm just saying it can be controlled and not just avoided. People have legit jumped out of moving vehicles due to spiders. It's best to confront the issue instead of letting it keep growing to a point that can be harmful like that.
That's not true and the video I linked talks about that. Even really expensive therapists often do some free or discount work for those in need. It's usually not advertised since they will have long waiting lists. It takes some work to ask around and find someone. That's why I linked the video. Many assume help is out of their reach financially when it may not be as far a reach as they might think.
That has to be the WORST arachnophobia mode I've ever seen. It's as if they think people only fear spiders for their legs and nothing more. The video ends with literally the entire face of the spider, all eyes and teeth still visible in the end, which is the biggest thing I fear from spiders. This setting did NOTHING to put my mind at ease, and it only infuriated me actually. Like, why can't arachnophobia mode be literally turning them into polygons or simply replacing their models with another insect altogether or SOMETHING that doesn't keep the same damn face that haunts me every night I try to sleep?
I apologize for the rant but this arachnophobia mode felt more like an insult to me than a solution.
