War Robots

War Robots

Whatever happened to War Robots Frontiers?
Remember the big hupla the Pix gods made of the "new" War Robots. They were selling beta versions and promising new stuff if you joined up. Frontiers came out November of 2022. After huge success with WR and its millions of downloads and tens of thousand of active players, guess how many people play WR Frontiers? I tried it, didn't like it. I guess most people didn't take to it either.

After War Robots, I wouldn't spit on them to put out a fire if they were aflame. I'd consider the money spent on War Robots to either go towards improving that game or down payment on any new products from Pixonic.

That's like saying this guy punched me. So I went to hang out with his lil brother, and he punched me too!

Pixonic is good at making games just good enough to combine with psychology tactics to earn money. I don't think they have any experience creating a game driven by player satisfaction, and not frustration.

Has anyone clicked on the link yet. I just did. It has 11 players in the last 24 hours. Just 11. Whoa baby.

I tried the game on a special, and really didn't like it at all. Have not played it again.

It's not bad,but I haven't play it enough to know whats what for setting up.

My guess is it will end up like war robots.

Not sure what they were thinking with War Robots Frontiers. In the beginning the game was quite fun, you had your custom builds and pretty much all of them felt more or less balanced. It felt like old school WR plus the true PC graphics and gameplay.

But then game was not even live yet and they were already one-upping themselves with newer, more powerful builds and capabilities. Remember how bad the WR was on steam before cross platform when you'd bump into same death squads game after game? Sure enough, the WRF has like 10 players tops and they already implemented squad play.

And lastly, big part of games such as WR and WRF is having a hangar that you can upgrade and tweak. In WRF, since it's still in dev, they reset everybody's progress once in a while and you lose everything.

There's absolutely no reason to play it now. It might be better when it's released but expect same old p2w.
anything new about frontiers? the trailer gameplay looks a bit more detailed than regular WR

I think they are scheduled to release the game this year. It will be interesting to see what final shape the game will take since it has changed a bit since when I played it.

Is Frontiers cringy and pay to win like the regular WR version?

When I started playing WRF it certainly wasn't it, it reminded me of best days of War Robots when it just started. You could have competed playing thunder fury, with PC graphics and more dynamic gameplay (every bot could dash, for example).

But that was over a year ago since then they have been adding content that they could monetize on when the game is released. Pixonic has also openly stated that it will be "free to play" when released which absolutely means it will be pay to win.
Thank you very much for your replies. I appreciate the kindness and heavy detail and even the kindness of me having asked repeatedly the same question even after a very detailed response. I am rereading this like wow, i know i read their replies but sheesh! <3
Thank you guys for your kindness and input.
The Pixonic site says "it’s currently slated for release in early 2025."
