No worries!
This is the first Rally Raid game with navigation and "Road Books", so we already expected many doubts, but we are here also to help.
If you check the map of the DAKAR 2018 route, cant be square because if it was, hundreds of unused square Km would be in the ocean.
Please check here:
http://netstorage.lequipe.fr/ASO/motorSports_dak/affiche-parcours-dakar-2018.pdf
For that reason we had to cut in 5 different square maps to cover the land, divided by around 1,125 chunks of 16km2 each (4km x 4km), all connected each other that sums +18,000km2.
Regarding to the speed... that was the best way we get to simulate the kilometers.
Since we wanted to keep also the simulation of the original "Road Books", used in the real race, but the world was reduced by 1:32, we had to compensate with the kilometers passed so the simulation of the Navigation to be possible. Since Navigation is the key simulation in this game.
Please bear in mind the Navigation with Road Book notes are always based on Kilometers and Cap Heading, as defined by FIA rules.
Hopy you guys enjoy the game!
Yes, we are also adjusting the moment and the distance that the navigator talk to an acceptable time and to match with the adjusted kilometres (due to the 1:32 scale down), so the player (pilot) can follow the instructions of the navigator.
Please remember that not only our team is testing all the stages, but also many official pilots are testing the game too to make sure the experience is the correct one.
